A biological male suspected of murder who was previously accused of sexually molesting a five-year-old has “transitioned” to female while being held at New York City’s Rikers Island jail.

Alex Ray Scott, a 26-year-old from Oklahoma, was arrested and charged for the murder of 64-year-old antique dealer Kenneth Savinski in January 2020. Scott was booked as a male more than two years ago, but now prison records identify Scott as a female, according to the New York Post.

The Post cited jail records, which the outlet reported: “…now list the 6-foot-tall, 190-pound Scott as ‘female,’ and indicate that [Scott] is being housed at Rikers Island’s Rose M. Singer Center for female detainees.”

Scott reportedly showed up to a court appearance earlier this week and revealed the transition. The Post shared pictures of the suspected murderer appearing in court with longer hair and bangs.

Prosecutors have accused Scott of strangling Savinski, stabbing him in the face, and slitting his throat after they met on a dating app.

After the alleged murder, Scott walked into a police precinct with cut up hands, carrying a stack of credit cards that reportedly belonged to Savinski, The New York Times reported in February 2020.

Scott claims to have been drinking heavily before the alleged murder and doesn’t remember exactly what happened. The suspect walked into the police station after reportedly searching the victim’s name on Google.

“I think I may have killed someone last night,” Scott told detectives, according to court documents.

Surveillance footage later revealed Scott leaving Savinski’s home, holding onto the victim’s watch, credit cards, and cash and wearing Savinski’s black jacket, the Post explained.

Scott pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder, grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property.

At the time of the suspected murder, Scott wanted in Oklahoma for allegedly forcing a co-worker’s five-year-old son to perform oral sex in September 2018, per the Times.

Scott later admitted to fleeing Oklahoma for New York “to get away from the case,” court documents show. The suspect reportedly hid in New York for several weeks after removing an ankle monitor and fleeing Oklahoma.
