“Mission: Impossible” director <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mission-impossible-director-recounts-weirdest-tom-cruise-story-he-ever-heard">Christopher McQuarrie</a> revealed that a fan “almost had a heart attack” watching a scene from the upcoming final installment in the franchise.
Speaking to Empire Magazine, per <a href="https://www.gamesradar.com/entertainment/mission-impossible-movies/mission-impossible-8-director-says-the-latest-movie-features-the-most-difficult-thing-weve-ever-done-and-its-got-the-perfect-first-reaction-from-an-early-screening-i-almost-had-a-heart-attack/">Games Radar</a>, the 56-year-old director told the outlet that at a recent screening for &#8220;Mission: Impossible &#8212; The Final Reckoning,” the action-packed excitement on the big screen proved to me almost too much for one of the movie-goers.
“We had a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack,'&#8221; McQuarrie said<a href="https://www.gamesradar.com/entertainment/mission-impossible-movies/mission-impossible-8-director-says-the-latest-movie-features-the-most-difficult-thing-weve-ever-done-and-its-got-the-perfect-first-reaction-from-an-early-screening-i-almost-had-a-heart-attack/">.</a> “And I thought, ‘I guess we did something right.'&#8221;
It has been the goal with each of the “M:I” films that the action gets more intense.

And McQuarrie has appeared to confirm that will be the case once again, telling the outlet that the eighth installment features &#8220;the most difficult thing&#8221; they&#8217;ve ever done in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tom-cruise">Tom Cruise</a>-led series.
But exactly what the scene was that almost sent a fan to the hospital has yet to be revealed.

In the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOhDyUmT9z0&amp;t=1s">first trailer</a> for the upcoming film, there’s a whole host of action sequences, which involve a high-speed car chase and crash, an underwater battle involving a submarine, and Cruise hanging on to the outside of a biplane as it flies upside down, among so many others.
In July 2023, Cruise <a href="https://twitter.com/TomCruise/status/1676622885991972865?s=20">shared</a> behind-the-scenes shots from the seventh installment in the franchise, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” that showed how a high-speed train sequence in the movie came together, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tom-cruise-shares-incredible-behind-the-scenes-shots-from-mission-impossible-7">reported</a>.
“This train sequence was tricky, but the outcome made it all worth it,” Cruise wrote at the time about the scene filmed in Norway. “I can’t wait for everyone to see it come to life!”
In the clip, we hear McQuarrie talked about how the movie’s “sense of adventure” would include an action train sequence, something they had “always wanted to do.”
“We wanted to build upon the previous films,” the director said. “And apply all of that knowledge to something practical and real.”
The footage showed outside shots of Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt on top of a train and a warehouse where the shell of a train with different train cars was being built to help them create movie magic.
“We had to build a train if we wanted to destroy it,” McQuarrie said, noting that the cars had to be able to run on a working “railroad track.”
“Mission: Impossible &#8212; The Final Reckoning” hits theaters May 23.
