On Tuesday night, leftist filmmaker Michael Moore triggered harsh criticism in response to his tweet regarding the Boulder, Colorado shooting in which a Syrian immigrant who reportedly suffered from mental illness murdered 10 people. Moore tweeted under a photo of the Statue of Liberty ,“The life of (the shooter) shows that people can come from all over the world and truly assimilate into our beloved American culture.”

Moore’s attack on America elicited angry responses from the conservative side of the aisle (including here, here, here, here, here, here and here).

The Daily Wire reported on Tuesday:

The suspected shooter, a 21-year-old who will not be named per Daily Wire policy, killed 10 people at a King Soopers grocery store on Monday, including one police officer. While his Arabic name may prompt new assumptions about his motive, members of his family have told the Daily Beast that the suspect suffered from mental illness, was “very anti-social” and paranoid. The suspect’s brother said that in high school, the suspect claimed he was “being chased, someone is behind him, someone is looking for him.”… The suspect was born in Syria but reportedly spent “most of his life in the United States,” Boulder police officials said during a Tuesday press conference.

Moore’s perspective on America has impelled him to seemingly praise terrorist and Iranian general Qassem Soleimani for accumulating so many “mourners” at his funeral. Below a photo of Soleimani’s funeral procession Moore wrote, “Just wondering — is there an American General for whom millions of us would turn out for his funeral? Mad Dog [General James Mattis]? Kelly [General John Kelly]? Colin Powel [sic]? William Westmoreland? Can anyone even name the chair of the Joint ChiefsWe all support those who serve but would we pour into the streets like this?”

In May 2018, Moore wished Karl Marx, the author of “The Communist Manifesto,” a happy 200th birthday while thanking him for his contributions and defending Marx against accusations that his theories resulted in the murder of millions of people.

Moore wrote, “Happy 200th Birthday Karl Marx! You believed that everyone should have a seat at the table & that the greed of the rich would eventually bring us all down. You believed that everyone deserves a slice of the pie. You knew that the super wealthy were out to grab whatever they could. … Over the years there were ruthless men who tried to use your name (much as the alt right haters use Jesus’ name) to pull the wool over people’s eyes. Yet much of Europe now practices much of your philosophy & people are taken care of. And we have Bernie! Democratic socialism!”

He concluded, “Though the rich have sought to distort him or even use him, time has shown that, in the end, Marx was actually mostly right & that the aristocrats, the slave owners, the bankers and Goldman Sachs were wrong… Happy Birthday, Karl Marx. You Were Right!”
