The Avengers are assembling for a new installment, and it looks like just about everyone is invited to the upcoming MCU movie, “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Marvel Studios revealed key figures during a five-hour livestream this week. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”), Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”), Anthony Mackie (“Captain America”), Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man”), Letitia Wright (“Black Panther”), Simu Liu (“Shang-Chi”), Danny Ramirez (“The Falcon”) and Winston Duke (“M’Baku”), per <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/avengers-doomsday-cast-announced-1236172556/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>.
Other names include Vanessa Kirby, Paul Rudd, Tenoch Huerta, Sebastian Stan, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Florence Pugh. 
Robert Downey Jr. will also be returning, as was previously announced.
Some key actors missing from the new film include Tom Holland (“Spider-Man”) and Chris Evans (“Captain America”), though Evans is expected to participate in the sequel, “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
Marvel first announced the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” at San Diego Comic-Con in July. During that announcement, they revealed that Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers, who both left the MCU after “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), would be returning for this project. 
“Doomsday” has a scheduled release date of May 2026, while the second part is slated for May 2027.
The Russo brothers recently spoke with THR about how they cast for movies and keep all the characters straight, which they said involves using baseball cards to keep it all organized.
“Now they have magnets on them so we can put ‘em on a board and look at ‘em. It’s the only way to keep track of the amount of characters that we’re working with,” Joe Russo <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/avengers-doomsday-directors-1236161664/">told</a> the outlet. 
Anthony Russo chimed in, saying, “And as far as how do we look at who’s in the movies, it’s just a long creative process of exploring where we want to take the story. What is the most surprising and exciting area for us to push into, and which characters help us in that effort?”
The directors also discussed their strategy for avoiding spoilers. “We’re pretty good about shutting that down,” Joe told <a href="https://collider.com/avengers-doomsday-secret-wars-runtime-russo-brothers/">Collider</a> in an interview with Anthony. “We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that,” he added.
That’s why the Russo Brothers prefer filming on soundstages. Joe said, “We don’t want people getting photographs, so we are being pretty stringent.&#8221;
“The location work we are doing, we have picked those locations with that in mind as well,” Anthony agreed.
The studio is hoping to have another major blockbuster on its hands after the success of “Avengers: Endgame,” which earned a record-breaking $2.7 billion worldwide.
