Male Fever Fan Has The Audacity To Point At A’ja Wilson And WNBA Star Loses Her Mind

Stop me if I’m wrong, but don’t sports fans point their fingers at athletes all of the time during games?

Yeah, I thought so. Apparently, Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson doesn’t think it’s normal behavior.

During Game 2 of the first round of the WNBA playoffs against the Indiana Fever, Wilson got tied up with Sophie Cunningham late in the fourth quarter, leading to a foul called on the Fever forward.

What followed was a chaotic scene as Wilson singled out an older white man, donning a blue shirt, under the basket as he exhibited normal fan behavior. We should note he can also be seen on video pointing at Wilson — truly, the audacity.

Why Wilson didn’t confront the other half dozen fans pointing at her in the below still image is anyone’s guess.

I’m no lip-reading expert but the male fan, who was already standing when the foul against Cunningham was called, appeared to say “It’s on you” as he pointed at the Aces player.

Security and some Aces’ players eventually separated Wilson from the fan, who was escorted from his seat, only to return minutes later. Wilson received a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct for the altercation.

In a statement provided to Sport & State and other outlets, the Fever wrote, “Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed.”

During her postgame media availability, Wilson addressed the incident, though shockingly she didn’t specifically cite what the fan said that set her off in a tizzy.

“With the baseline situation, I don’t know if you guys know me, but I don’t really get into the bullsh*t,” she began. “I don’t. I try to play my game, keep it pushing. But if I’m just walking cause I just got the foul, I’m chilling, and if I see a man come at me, taking steps towards me, and pointing at me, I don’t give a damn what you said, I don’t give a damn how you said it, the tone, that is unacceptable. You don’t step towards me.

“You never should step and point at me. I’m not for that sh*t at all. Excuse my french and God bless me. That there is unacceptable. And how he gets back in the game because they said he didn’t do anything — of course he didn’t. That’s fine.

“There’s just certain things that I’m not going to allow anymore because it’s just unacceptable. You don’t know me at all to come and step towards me and point at me and say anything out your mouth to me.”

As part of the incident, women’s basketball analyst and WNBA on Prime player contributor Sydney Colson can also be seen on video exchanging words with a fan or fans, possibly saying “B*tch, who the f*ck do you think you are?” Again, I’m no lip-reading expert, but it sounds pretty darn clear.

Colson, who most recently played for the Fever in 2025, is being held back by a woman sporting a Prime brand jacket as she’s escorted from her seat.

Indiana beat Las Vegas 99-89 to even the series 1-1. The decisive Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday night in Las Vegas.

The WNBA and Prime Video didn’t immediately respond to Sport & State for a request to comment on the incident.
