‘Long List Of Failures’: Crenshaw Slams Biden’s Economic Mismanagement

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) slammed President Joe Biden over his economic policies.

During a Wednesday interview with Fox Business, the lawmaker pinned Biden’s economic failures on COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions forwarded by Democrats:

This is, again, a reason to note the failures of this administration, because why do we have inflation in the first place? Well, its Democrat lockdowns primarily. Democrat lockdowns caused permanent disruptions to our supply chains and production capabilities. That’s what’s happening right now.

Then as soon as Biden took office, they passed a multi-trillion-dollar plan that increased inflation furthermore by boosting the demand side without doing anything that deals with the supply side. Again, the long list of failures goes on and on with the border, with Afghanistan, with inflation, with attack on our American energy. It’s frustrating to everybody.

Indeed, the Back-To-Normal Index — a CNN Business and Moody’s Analytics project that is tracking states’ recoveries from COVID-19 and the lockdown-induced recession — reveals that states with zealous virus mitigation policies are lagging in economic growth. New York currently bottoms out the list, while South Dakota — which never enacted lockdowns — currently leads the list.

In March — when the economy was already nearing a full recovery — Biden approved the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. During an August interview with The Daily Wire, Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) — the Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which is responsible for deliberating taxes and other fiscal policy measures — said that the legislation’s $300-per-week enhanced federal unemployment insurance contributed to persistent labor shortages.

“It’s certainly slowing our recovery and contributing to both slower deliveries and higher prices all up and down the supply chain,” he said. “Companies of all sizes simply can’t find the workers they need, whether they’re retailers, restaurateurs, or production lines — this is inevitable when you pay four out of ten Americans more to stay home than to work.”

Meanwhile, child tax credits — which continue to this day — are “divorced from work” for the first time. “That’s not a requirement for getting it, and so you’re seeing this barrier begin to impact businesses,” Brady continued. “I think the point here is that the federal government is sending a seemingly never-ending supply of checks, regardless of whether you work or not. You’re going to have economic problems, and that’s what we’re seeing.”

“The time for emergency spending is over, and Washington cannot become the ‘Olive Garden’ of never-ending government checks, which is now becoming expected by too many Americans,” Brady added, noting the danger of further government social spending.

Despite the various economic crises impacting the United States, President Biden insisted on social media that his economic track record is the “strongest” of any Commander-in-Chief in the past half-century.

“We’re ending 2021 with what one analyst described as the strongest first-year economic track record of any president in the last 50 years,” Biden wrote. “Let’s keep the progress going.”

Biden made a similar argument last week. In a virtual meeting with the “Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force,” Biden discussed the “progress” the economy has made since he assumed office. “Today, America is the only leading economy in the world where household incomes and the economy as a whole are stronger than they were before the pandemic, even accounting for price increases.”
