Lizzo Announces ‘No-Shame’ Shapewear Line Called Yitty, Says ‘Everyone’s Size Is Just Their Size’

Lizzo has made herself part of the body positivity movement. Now, the 33-year-old recording artist is planning to expand her repertoire by introducing a line of shapewear that she insists is different from the restrictive, uncomfortable options currently on the market, including Kim Kardashian’s popular SKIMS line, which is reportedly worth $3.2 billion.

The “Truth Hurts” singer just announced the premiere of Yitty, which is being touted as “no-shame, smile-inducing shapewear designed for all body types.” The product is being backed by Kate Hudson’s Fabletics clothing line.

“Instead of thinking about size in this linear way, we’re thinking about it on a spectrum where everyone is included. Everyone’s size is just their size. It’s not high, it’s not low. It’s not big, it’s not small. It’s just your size,” Lizzo said of the product line.

She went on to explain how the shapewear was inspired by her experience growing up.

“I felt that I was constantly being told through TV and magazines that my body wasn’t good enough. And, in order to be considered ‘acceptable’ I had to inflict some sort of pain upon it to fit into an archetype of beauty,” the rapper said. “Because of this, I’ve been wearing shapewear for a long time, maybe since I was in fifth or sixth grade.”

But, Lizzo continued, she constantly found herself faced with “sad, restrictive” styles “that literally no one wanted to wear.”

“I had an epiphany like, ‘Who can actually do something about this?’ I decided to take on the challenge of allowing women to feel unapologetically good about themselves again,” she said.

Though the line is being marketed as shapewear, Lizzo says the items are more about delivering confidence than reshaping the female form, no matter what size. The Detroit native explained that the items “should make you feel like that b**** when you’re putting [it] on.”

According to the press release, fans can shop three Yitty collections beginning April 12, Page Six reported. Those include “Nearly Naked, a line of lightweight seamless shaping garments; Mesh Me, a selection of smoothing mesh styles; and Major Label, which includes loungewear separates like leggings and sweatshirts.”

The “inclusive” size range is available from XS to 6X.

Lizzo has been vocal about embracing her body type and celebrating it, no matter what size she wears.

“Hey, so I’ve been working out consistently for the last five years and it may come as a surprise to some of ya’ll that I’m not working out to have your ideal body type,” Lizzo said, as reported by Fox News. “I’m working out to have my ideal body type and you know what type it is? None of your f***ing business because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job, and I stay on my job.”
