Don’t mess with Liz Cheney.
The eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney is now a Republican member of Congress from Wyoming. While her father would often ignore criticism, Cheney comes out with both barrels blazing.
And it doesn’t take her long to think up a good zinger, either.
Case in point: On Sunday night, the limousine liberals gathered to praise themselves in the annual Gold Globes Awards show. Actor Christian Bale won a Globe for his portrayal of the former vice president in the “fake news” film “Vice.”
In his acceptance speech, Bale said Satan was his inspiration for playing Cheney and suggested the next “charisma-free a**h***” he could play would be Senate GOP Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
First, Bale thanked the movie’s director, Adam McKay, saying, “Thank you to that geezer, Adam. He said I’ve got to find somebody who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody, so he went, ‘Oh, it’s gotta be Bale in it.’ Thank you.”
Then he said: “And for all the competition, I will be cornering the market on charisma-free a**h***s. What do you think, Mitch McConnell next? That could be good, couldn’t it? Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role.”
While the awards show was still underway, Cheney wrote on Twitter: “Satan probably inspired him to do this, too.” She linked a story headlined, “Christian Bale arrested for ‘assault on mother and sister.'”

The Batman star Christian Bale was released on police bail yesterday after being questioned over an alleged assault on his mother and sister.
Scotland Yard said the Hollywood actor, 34, had voluntarily attended Belgravia police station, in central London, at noon. After four hours of questioning by detectives he was released on bail until September pending further inquiries. His arrest came just 16 hours after he attended the European premiere of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight, in Leicester Square.
His mother, Jenny, 61, and sister, Sharon, claim he lashed out at them on Sunday night in his suite at The Dorchester hotel, in Park Lane. They reported the alleged inci[d]ent at a Hampshire police station on Monday. The complaint was then passed to the Metropolitan Police, who spoke to Mr Bale before the film premiere but allowed him to attend the event on condition that he present himself at Belgravia police station yesterday.
Ouch.
