Lara Trump Tried To Help Shelter Dogs Get Adopted. You Can Probably Guess What Happened Next.

   DailyWire.com

Lara Trump, the wife of President Donald Trump’s son, Eric, is a tireless activist for animals, and last weekend, she posted a photo on Instagram designed to motivate her social media followers to “clear the shelters” — adopt a cat or dog from a local rescue.

It probably comes as no surprise that the plan backfired. Immediately.

Imagine if this was your view. Day in and day out people would come by and stand in front of your cage and stare at you. They would tell you to sshhh if you barked. They would laugh if you ran around frantically. Some would cry if you looked sad. Imagine people reading the info on your cage and just moving on. Imagine being on display like furniture in a storefront. Can you imagine? Dogs that are in a shelter cage can feel scared and vulnerable. They often times are anxious and depressed. When looking for a forever family member please take all of this into consideration. Spend time with the dogs outside of their cages. Choose based on your time together…not on what you see through those bars. Shelter life is not real life. Cages can make the gentlest soul appear “crazy” or “aggressive” simply because he is scared. When visiting a shelter or a pound please be aware of the broken hearts in those cages. Show them respect. If a particular dog acts up when you are in front of his cage please move on. He doesn’t want to be on display and has nowhere to hide. Teach your children not to taunt the dogs by running or jumping around. This always leads to more chaos and stress for all. Shelter dogs likely had families at one time. Each of them has had their lives turned upside down through no fault of their own. Imagine being let down by humans over and over. Put yourself in their place. “Imagine if this was your view,” Trump wrote. “Day in and day out people would come by and stand in front of your cage and stare at you. They would tell you to sshhh if you barked. It turns out, the “Resistance” definitely can imagine — or, at least, they think they can. Ignoring the context of the post, leftists across Instagram jumped into the comments, accusing Trump of being complicit in her father-in-law’s immigration policies, which they claimed imprisoned children in cages just like the one Lara Trump depicted in her Instagram post.

Think about the kids separated from their families?!?!” one commenter wrote, according to Yahoo news, which called the post “controversial.”

“Lara….. What about the hundreds of thousands incarcerated humans here in the U.S.?” another person added. “There. Are. Children. In. Cages!

There are, of course, a handful of problems with their responses. One, Lara Trump is nowhere near close enough to the president to bring leftist concerns to his desk. Her husband, Eric, runs Trump wineries, not Trump domestic policy. Second, it’s fairly difficult to adopt grown adults from prisons.

And then there’s the matter of the baby cages. Those turned out to be relics of the Obama Administration. Even Democrats who toured holding facilities for the children of illegal immigrants awaiting asylum hearings noted that the surroundings were comfortable, even if they weren’t particularly ideal.

Of course, it’s nearly impossible for any member of the Trump family to post to social media without being implicated in the patriarch’s policy agenda. Even Donald Trump, Jr.’s tween daughter, who recently got an Instagram of her own to showcase her golf talent, has had to fend off angry leftists determined to “send a message” to her grandfather using the comments section of her social media profile.
