<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was rushed to a hospital on Tuesday after suffering an allergic reaction, a department spokeswoman said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Secretary Noem had an allergic reaction today. She was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. She is alert and recovering,” Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told </span><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/17/politics/kristi-noem-hostpital"><span style="font-weight: 400;">CNN</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Noem is being treated at a hospital in Washington, D.C., where she was rushed by ambulance Tuesday afternoon. It is unclear what triggered Noem’s reaction.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Noem was one of President Donald Trump’s first nominees, being appointed just days after the president took office in January. Since then, Noem has been one of the chief apologists for Trump’s immigration and deportation agenda to the public, as well as responsible for its implementation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Immigration has been Trump’s key issue since he first ran for office in 2016, and his handling of it is currently his strongest issue with Americans. According to the results of an </span><a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/trump-administration/poll-americans-disapprove-trumps-performance-republicans-manage-splits-rcna212585?taid=684f0a494f8e5800013ab5b8&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter"><span style="font-weight: 400;">NBC News Decision Desk</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> poll released on Sunday, Americans view Trump’s handling of border security and immigration 51% positively to 49% negatively.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Trump’s immigration agenda has proven the most popular among immigrants to the United States. CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/legal-immigrants-have-swung-40-points-right-on-immigration-favor-gop-polling-expert"><span style="font-weight: 400;">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> last week that immigrant voters in the United States have swung more toward Trump on immigration than any other demographic.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Foreign-born voters have gone tremendously to the right on this issue in 2024 and 2025 versus where they were in 2020,” said Enten. “You go back to 2020, Democrats, get this, held a 32-point lead on this issue. Immigrant voters were in the Democratic camp. Jump forward to 2024, 2025. Look at that shift. A 40-point shift to the Right among immigrant voters.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Republicans now lead on this issue by eight points over Democrats, more so than any other group that I could find,” he added.</span></p>
