Texas State Sen. Angela Paxton, the estranged wife of Republican Senate hopeful Ken Paxton, is backing the full GOP ticket in November despite filing for divorce from her husband last year.

In an advertisement released Saturday, Angela Paxton said voters had asked for her thoughts about the election. The Republican lawmaker, who represents a suburban district north of Dallas, framed the contest as a choice between keeping Republican control or handing the keys to Democrats.

“I’m Texas Senator Angela Paxton. People have asked my thoughts about this election, and turns out I have some,” she says in the ad. “Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. In a general election, it’s not as much about the individual players on the team; it’s about getting the whole team across the finish line.”

The 30-second spot is now on TV, backed by Texas PAC, a newly formed federal super PAC tied to the Senate Leadership Fund. The John Thune-connected group has already poured a record $131 million into the Texas Senate race, according to Axios.

“Either we hold every Republican seat, or we hand the future of Texas to the other team,” Paxton said. “That’s why I’m voting for the Republican ticket on November 3rd. Let’s hold the line together.”

She did not use her husband’s name or directly reference the Senate race in the ad.

Angela filed for divorce from Ken Paxton in July 2025 after 38 years of marriage, citing “recent discoveries” of adultery and said she wanted a divorce on “biblical grounds.” The couple has been living apart since June 2024, according to the Texas Tribune.

“I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation,” Angela said in July 2025. “But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.”

“I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose,” she added.

Still, Angela’s support for the GOP ticket – without naming Ken Paxton directly – may create a permission structure for conservative women and moderate voters to pull the lever for Paxton, who is trailing Democrat James Talarico, according to public polling.

President Donald Trump is hitting the stump hard for Paxton, traveling to suburban Dallas earlier this week for an economy-focused event. He’s also expected to campaign for Paxton in San Antonio next week.

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance was in South Texas to rally voters with just a month to go until Election Day. Speaking to Fox News, Vance tied an attack on Talarico’s unconventional views on Christianity to an economic pitch.

“This is a guy who supported men in women’s sports, who says that God is non-binary, who says there are six genders — and a guy with values like that and a voting record like that… He’s not going to stand up for your job, and he’s certainly not going to stand up for your values,” Vance said.

Vance was in Brownsville to break ground on Saronic’s Port Alpha, a project expected to produce thousands of jobs.

The Cook Political Report rates the race, which could determine control of the U.S. Senate, as a toss-up.
