Kate Middleton’s health has reportedly “turned a corner” for the better amid her ongoing cancer battle after she announced her diagnosis on March 22.

A source close to the Princess of Wales said reports that Middleton is not likely to return to royal work-related duties at all this year are inaccurate and said she’s actually starting to do better with her cancer treatments, Vanity Fair reported.

“It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better,” a family friend told the outlet. “It has, of course, been a very challenging and worrying time. Everyone has rallied around her—William, her parents, and her sister and brother.”

And as far as when we can expect to see Middleton to return to her public engagements, a well-placed source told the outlet, “There is no timeline, and there is certainly no hurry.”

“It will be when Catherine feels ready and when she gets the greenlight from her medical team,” the source added. “But she will 100% be coming back to work, of that there is no question.”

The Daily Mail has reported that a senior royal aide said the princess was recently briefed on a landmark report about childhood early development and a related business task force.

“The Princess of Wales was the driving force behind the business task force,” the royal aide said. “She has been kept up to date since the inception of the task force, and she has read the report and been briefed on it.”

“This is a clear commitment she has made—that throughout her life of public service…this will be [the] focus,” the aide added. “That will continue when she returns to work. But we have been really clear that she needs the space and the privacy to recover right now. She will return to work when she has had the greenlight from doctors.”

In a heartfelt video Princess Kate posted in March, she said that when she went in for “major abdominal surgery” in January, she believed that was for a non-cancerous situation. But test results later showed that she had cancer.

“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful,” Middleton said.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” she added. “The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Middleton continued. “This of course came as a huge shock, and [Prince] William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
