“The View’s” resident far-leftist, Joy Behar, believes that no one on the daytime chat show has ever insulted Donald Trump’s voters, and was adamant that she’s merely criticized Trump himself live on-air.
Speaking on the issue Wednesday, Behar told fellow panelist Meghan McCain that, “on this panel, no one — as far as I could tell — has ever said anything negative about Trump voters.”
She went on to say that her animosity is towards Trump himself, not the people that cast their ballots against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 p Ben Hilarious: Homeless Hank Joy Behar Emilyresidential election, and that she’s never personally insulted a Trump voter during the show.
“I do not attack the Trump voters. I don’t think you’ve ever heard me say that,” Behar said.
Social media was quick to fact-check Behar’s claim. It seems that the daytime talk show host is creatively parsing words, but that she can’t speak for her fellow panelists. Back in February, Behar insulted Christians by way of Mike Pence, whom she chided for being anti-intellectual, simply for being a vocal Christian.
Newsbusters also discovered a clip from 2017, where Behar insinuated Trump voters were racist and resentful against minorities. “Those people need to look in the mirror,” she said. “There are certain people in this country — they know who they are, a lot of them voted for Trump — and there’s a resentment involved here.”
Technically, in both of those clips, Behar didn’t actively insult Trump voters by name. She did happen to say something negative, but she didn’t call out a Trump voter by name, so she can’t be said to have “personally” insulted a Trump voter.
Her fellow panelist Sunny Hostin can’t say the same thing, having also insinuated that Trump voters (or at least those who opposed Hillary Clinton) did so out of racism. “Twenty percent of people voted because of racism, and I think after eight years of a black president there was no way that Clinton was going to win,” she said during a panel in 2016, according to Newsbusters.
So the question is to Trump voters: are you insulted?
