Jonathan Majors is standing by his role in the DailyWire+ film “Run Hide Fight: Infidels.”
The legacy media is predictably horrified by “Infidels,” calling it “deranged” and “Islamophobic drivel.” But that’s not enough to turn Majors against the project he opted to star in.
The subject matter couldn’t be more timely. A follow-up to the hit 2020 action film “Run Hide Fight” — which dealt with a school shooting — takes place on a college campus that has been taken over by violent terrorists in a situation that’s chillingly true to life.
Majors plays Clay Saunders, a retired Delta Force soldier who visits a college campus to promote his new book. But the radical Islamic terrorists on campus stage a violent attack – co-opting a hapless group of campus protesters – to try to stop Saunders from spreading his warning against the rise of Islam in America.
“When radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college’s pro-Palestine encampment to enforce barbaric Sharia law on students and execute infidels in a makeshift caliphate, a ragtag band of red-blooded students, a security guard tired of ‘Uncle Tom’ smears and a Delta Force vet must arm up to save their clueless peers and keep America from surrendering to the enemy on its own soil,” the logline of “Infidels” says.
“We cannot run or hide from what is coming,” he says from the stage. “We have to fight.”
The actor discussed the project during a recent Q&A with Daily Wire subscribers and talked about why he chose something guaranteed to offend many of his liberal fans. According to Majors, it came down to the “cool” factor.
When asked whether he reviewed the script before agreeing to sign on for “Infidels,” Majors confirmed he did and that he liked what he saw.
“I’d like to say there’s like a chart where I go. ‘OK. No. No. No. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.’ But ultimately, it’s a feeling, you know, when you read the script. And for me, it’s never been about the size of the role, but the responsibility of the character and the world in which the character is going to operate,” he told the audience.
He then got to that cool factor. Majors said he evaluates potential projects on the overall vibes he gets.
“Is it cool? You know, like, do I want to put myself in the situation where it’s like cool or not? You know, is the director cool? You know, does he have a vision? You know, does he have a world that he’s gonna set me in?”
Beyond that, the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” star said he has to believe in the film’s higher purpose. “I’ve got to do something and understand something that I didn’t understand before” and “be curious about,” he said.
Majors continued, “With ‘Run Hide Fight: Infidels,’ I read it. I said, ‘Wow, I don’t really have the answers to this, you know. So, this is something that I should engage in, you know, in order to grow.’”
He went on to say the role offered “growing as a person, as an artist, and having fun at work, right, and being able to bring that self to work … we’re building something that is really interesting to do and also interesting to deliver.”
Majors said his character has big responsibilities in the film, and that he thought, “I’d love to play that.”
