John Kerry Sold His Wife’s Family Jet. He Should Have Destroyed It Like A ‘Cash For Clunkers’ Car.

MADRID, SPAIN - DECEMBER 10: Former US Secretary of State John Kerry attends to a conference at the COP25 Climate Conference on December 10, 2019 in Madrid, Spain. The COP25 conference brings together world leaders, climate activists, NGOs, indigenous people and others for two weeks in an effort to focus global policy makers on concrete steps for heading off a further rise in global temperatures.

Special Climate Envoy John Kerry apparently sold his wife’s family jet last summer after much scrutiny over his gas-guzzling habits. The sale doesn’t quite make sense, because the plane is still in existence and flying around the world. That raises the question, why didn’t he destroy it like it was one of those “cash for clunkers” cars from the Obama era?

That opening should not be taken as a dig at Kerry’s gold-digging ways. He may be a millionaire many times over because he wifed-up his ex-Senate colleague John Heinz’s widow, but it was his spokesperson who made it known that the controversial aircraft in question had been traded for some sweet moolah from an unknown buyer actually wasn’t in Kerry’s name.

“Secretary Kerry travels commercially in his role as Special Presidential Envoy for Climate,” Whitney Smith, Kerry’s spokeswoman, told Fox News. “I can confirm the plane previously owned by his wife’s family was sold last summer.”

The plane was reportedly sold to a New York-based hedge fund.

As Fox News first reported over the summer, Kerry’s jet had emitted more than 715,800 pounds of CO2 over 48 trips since he became the Special Climate Envoy.

Kerry has defended his expeditions in the past by saying the private jet was the only way somebody like him could travel around the globe. He ditched it a month after being criticized, Fox News noted.

However, it seems that the jet is still being used by somebody — which means that Kerry’s decision to sell it really does not matter. It is still out there cranking out CO2.

Had Kerry actually cared about reducing emissions, he would have destroyed it and used the parts for a wind turbine or maybe a modern art exhibit to be sold alongside Hunter Biden’s artwork.

Come to think of it, why doesn’t Kerry restart an elite version of “Cash for Clunkers?” Readers of a certain age may have benefited from that program designed to take thousands of cars off the road in exchange for money from the government. According to one report, nearly 700,000 cars were traded in under that program. It cost roughly $3 billion and, as described by James Gilboy of TheDrive, was pretty useless in the fight against climate change.

“[Cash for Clunkers]’s effect on U.S. fleet fuel consumption was further diluted by subsequent years of record car sales: since 2010, over 185 million new cars have been sold in the U.S. according to Axelwise,” as of August 2022, Gilboy observed.

So the reality on the ground — and in the sky for that matter — is that leftist policies to reduce emissions have always failed.

Yet we know Kerry does not see it that way because he flew to Davos to pat himself and his millionaire pals on the back. He gushed to his colleagues at the World Economic Forum that they should view themselves as real-world Supermen.

“When you stop and think about it, it’s pretty extraordinary that we — a select group of human beings because of whatever touched us at some point in our lives — are able to sit in a room and come together and actually talk about saving the planet,” Kerry gushed at the WEF. “I mean, it’s so almost extraterrestrial to think about ‘saving the planet.’”

Kerry added, “If you said that to most people, most people would think you’re just a crazy, tree-hugging, leftie, liberal do-gooder … but really that’s where we are.”

Based on his actions, Kerry seems to not care about reducing carbon emissions. He cares about money. He’s smart enough to know that the rest of the world cares about cold hard cash as well, because he told that same group that what is needed for green energy to take hold around the globe is, “money, money, money, money, money.”

Who woulda-thunk that the key to making the world move is money? Move toward what? A green energy utopia that will never come while regular citizens who can’t afford outrageous energy costs and electric vehicles suffer — but he always seems to leave that part out.
