Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel refrained from questioning President Joe Biden on Wednesday about the now-arrested man who told authorities he was seeking to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

During the much-discussed interview, Biden and Kimmel chatted about the potential implications of overturning Roe v. Wade without covering the biggest news of the day: that police arrested Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, California, in the Washington D.C. suburb of Chevy Chase, Maryland early Wednesday.

Pool reports show that Biden arrived at El Capitan Entertainment Centre in Los Angeles, California, around 2:36 pm PT on Wednesday afternoon for the taping, which aired later that night.

News first broke regarding the man seeking to kill Kavanaugh on Wednesday morning.

Kimmel did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire.

A DOJ affidavit details how Roske allegedly traveled to Kavanaugh’s home armed with weapons and burglary tools with the intent to kill the justice and prevent him from ruling on Second Amendment and abortion cases.

Biden has not directly addressed the incident, though the White House has told The Daily Wire that he condemns the would-be assassin and that Biden does not condone violence.

During Biden’s interview with Kimmel, which aired late Wednesday, the president predicted that overturning Roe v. Wade would launch a “mini-revolution” in the November midterm elections.

“I don’t think the country will stand for it,” Biden told Kimmel. “If in fact the decision comes down the way it does, and these states impose the limitations they’re talking about, it’s going to cause a mini-revolution and they’re going to vote these folks out of office.”

“You gotta make sure you vote. You gotta vote to let people know exactly what the devil you think,” he added.

Roske told authorities that he was upset about the “leak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,” indicating that “he believed the Justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws.”

“Roske stated that he began thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice after finding the Justice’s Montgomery County address on the Internet,” the affidavit said. “Roske further indicated that he had purchased the Glock pistol and other items for the purpose of breaking into the Justice’s residence and killing the Justice as well as himself.”

It is not immediately clear whether the Kavanaugh family was at home when this incident occurred. The FBI would not comment further to The Daily Wire on the Kavanaugh family’s whereabouts.
