Jim Carrey: NFL Sided With ‘Draft-Dodging Racist’ In National Anthem Flap

   DailyWire.com

OK, we can’t start every piece about Jim Carrey by saying, “Man, this dude get weird,” so we’ll jump right into it.

The former funnyman hopped onto Twitter on Tuesday in one of his moods and took aim at President Trump over the National Football League’s decision to ban players from protesting during the national anthem.

Along with another of his infantile paintings, Carrey posted: “NFL — who exploits players for 3yrs (sic) then abandons them to a lifetime of pain — sided with a draft-dodging racist who uses fake patriotism to squash peaceful protest. Corporations shld (sic) rethink sponsoring moral cowardice before we start asking: whose side is Nationwide really on?”

Trump said last week on Fox News that he didn’t think the NFL — which announced that teams can hold their players in the locker room during the national anthem — went far enough.

“I don’t think people should be staying in the locker rooms, but still I think it’s good. You have to stand proudly for the national anthem. You shouldn’t be playing, you shouldn’t be there. Maybe they shouldn’t be in the country,” Trump said.

Carrey, once box-office gold, has been crumbling for quite a while (perhaps the time period corresponds perfectly with his weighing in on all kinds of political matters). His new movie, “Dark Crimes,” got a 0% rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

The wonderful film critic Rex Reed absolutely torched the movie in a review titled: “‘Dark Crimes’ Backfires Like a Meal of Refried Beans.”

What has happened to Jim Carrey? Once a revered comedian with a big fan base, Carrey hasn’t made a good movie in 10 years, and the ones he’s in have been box-office bombs. Now he’s turned to drama, and like an army of funny men who tried it before, hoping for new respect as a serious actor from both critics and audiences, he is advised to brace himself. I admire Carrey for taking on a grim and sobering project made in Krakow, Poland, that requires a range he would never be asked to show in any American sitcom, but Dark Crimes is so lurid, irrelevant and unwatchable it makes you wonder if he ever read the script.

But never mind. Carrey is now an “artist” and “social commentator.” And with all his bile, it’s hard to picture him ever being funny again anyway.
