Now that famed economist and Green Party candidate Jill Stein has offered her sage wisdom as to how to solve the world’s economic problems, we can all rest easier, especially now that she has revealed her mastery of economic language.
Not.
In one tweet, Stein demonstrated her lack of knowledge of even the most basic economic language. Here it is:
There’s one glaring problem here: “per capita” is a Latin prepositional phrase which means “by heads” or “for each head,” thus it means “per person.”
Stein’s faux pas elicited some amusing responses on Twitter:
Stein graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College, where she studied psychology, sociology, and anthropology, then attended Harvard Medical School and graduated in 1979.
But when it comes to economics or Latin, none of that helps.
