Jeremy Renner was hospitalized on Sunday after his snowplow ran over his leg.

Renner’s home, located approximately 25 miles from Reno, Nevada, was impacted by the severe winter storm that struck on New Year’s Eve, causing a loss of power for roughly 35,000 homes in the area. The actor, most famous for depicting superhero Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, lost a “serious amount of blood” after “extensive” injuries to his leg and other body parts, according to a report from TMZ.

Footage obtained by the outlet shows a helicopter taking off for the hospital with the two-time Oscar nominee inside. One neighbor said that Renner was plowing the road near his Nevada home so his family could leave the property when his plowing machine accidentally ran over one of his legs, causing significant blood loss. Another neighbor, who is a doctor, was able to apply a tourniquet and slow the bleeding until emergency services arrived.

Renner had posted videos of himself using the red Snowcat plow, which rides on two treads. He previously used the machine to clear a sledding hill for his children.

Despite Renner’s injuries, the star is reportedly on the mend.

“We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today,” a spokesman for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office stated, according to a report from Deadline, which added that his “family is with him and he is receiving excellent care.”

Renner was nominated for Best Actor in 2010 for “The Hurt Locker” and Best Supporting Actor for 2011’s “The Town.” He previously played Aaron Cross in “The Bourne Legacy” and William Brandt in the “Mission Impossible” movies, and is currently starring in “The Mayor of Kingstown” and the “Hawkeye” series.

The injury sustained by the actor is one of several snow-related incidents across the nation, which has contended with more than a week of severe weather that claimed the lives of at least 50 people during the holidays. Many of the deaths occurred in Buffalo, New York, where one resident was found dead in her car on Christmas Eve after being stranded by heavy snowfall.
