Jeremy Renner gave a somewhat surprising answer when asked if he’s changed since his near-fatal snow plow accident a year ago.

In a video posted on Thursday on Instagram, the 53-year-old actor responded to the question about how he has changed since he suffered life-threatening injuries on January 1, 2023, near his home in Nevada.

I don’t think that the core of any of who I am has changed at all,” Renner said. “I don’t even think the principles of, like, what I’ve always wanted in my life have changed at all.”

“So the only thing that’s really shifted, to be honest, for me, which is difficult, is accepting being seen and witnessed for who I am as a man, as a father, as a brother,” he added. “It’s a powerful love and it’s overwhelming.”

“I mean, that’s the biggest thing that I’ve changed,” Renner continued. “I personally shifted, so I had to learn to receive a lot of goodness, man … a goodness I didn’t believe existed in the world, brother. It’s f***ing special to know that you’re not going to have a bad day for the rest of your life.”

He captioned his post with the video, “I am overwhelmed and astonished by the kindness of others…. I live and breathe in gratitude for the opportunity to witness these pure HUMAN experiences … I have nothing left to say except thank you all.”

The Marvel star recently celebrated finally being able to return to the set of his show “Mayor of Kingstown” a year after the accident. He posted picture on Instagram from the set of filming on season 3 of his Paramount+ show and wrote, “Day one on set… nervous today.”

“Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans,” he added.

The actor has undergone extensive therapy for the last year as part of his recovery after his body was nearly crushed under a 14,300-pound snowcat, resulting in more than 30 broken bones.

The “Avengers” star has kept fans up to date on social media while documenting his journey to recovery during the year.

“UPDATE: I’ve decided to push through the pain of progress (this damn shattered tibia) and take the new parts for a tiny test drive,” Renner captioned a video of him in May undergoing physical therapy. “The body is miraculous…. Even though I feel like the Tin Man, needing oil for all my new joints (hips, knees, ankles, tibia etc ). Encouraged after this warm up to press on (don’t tell my PT).”
