Ivanka’s Fashion Line Soars Despite Being Dumped By Nordstrom And Neiman Marcus

Despite major outlets such as Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus refusing to carry Ivanka Trump’s women’s fashion line, the president of the line says sales have gone through the roof.

Abigail Klem told Refinery 29, “Since the beginning of February, they were some of the best performing weeks in the history of the brand. For several different retailers Ivanka Trump was a top performer online, and in some of the categories it was the [brand’s] best performance ever.”

Nordstrom announced in early February that it would remove Trump’s fashion line, prompting President Trump to tweet:

Neiman Marcus joined Nordstrom later; the Grab Your Wallet campaign urged shoppers to boycott retailers with any Ivanka or Donald Trump-branded products.

Lyst reported that from January to February, Trump’s sales increased 346%.

Klem opined: “It’s unprecedented what this brand is dealing with. We are really committed to having the brand be separate, even from [Ivanka], so certainly her dad is even more distant from that. We’re committed to doing everything we can to carve an identity for this brand that is about what the brand stands for and the core brand attributes. And so absolutely, it complicated matters.”

In the meantime, Nordstrom’s decision didn’t hurt the company, according to Bloomberg; Oliver Chen, who works for Cowen & Co., estimated less than 1% of Nordstrom’s annual revenue depended on Trump’s line, whose sales dropped 32% last year, according to the Wall Street Journal. In late February, Nordstrom posted a profit of $1.37 a share for the most recent reported quarter, much higher than analyst estimates of $1.15.
