The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro provided the ladies of ABC’s “The View” with a history lesson and explanation of why the Left’s current definition of racism is so dangerous and “insidious.” On Monday, Whoopi Goldberg used her platform to assert that the Holocaust was not about race, but rather “man’s inhumanity to man.” As Shapiro explained, the comment was highly illuminating and points to how exactly the Left upholds the “bulls*** intersectional arguments that justify anti-Semitism today.”

Goldberg’s remark came while discussing a recent controversy over the Holocaust-based book, “Maus.” A school board in Tennessee recently voted to remove the book from classroom learning due to scenes of nudity unrelated to the Holocaust deemed inappropriate for middle schoolers.

It should be noted that the school district will be keeping “Maus” as curriculum reading until a replacement book can be found, and it will also still be featured in school libraries. Nonetheless, “The View” used the example as evidence that conservatives “don’t like history that makes white people look bad,” as Joy Behar put it.

After a discussion of race in America and world history, Goldberg turned her attention to racism in the Holocaust:

“If we’re going to do this, let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race. No. It’s not about race,” Goldberg said.

“They considered Jews a different race,” Joy Behar pushed back.

“It’s not about race. It’s not about race,” Goldberg insisted.

“What is it about?” Behar asked.

“It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about,” Goldberg replied.

“But it’s about white supremacy,” Navarro objected. “It’s about going after Jews and gypsies —”

“But it’s not about —” Goldberg interrupted. “These are two white groups of people. How do we —”

“They came after black people too,” Behar pointed out, noting that the Nazis had not considered Jews to be “white” either.

“But you’re missing the point. You’re missing the point. The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley,” Goldberg was insistent. “Let’s talk about it for what it is. It’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem. It doesn’t matter if you are black or white because black, white, Jews, Italians, everybody eats each other. So is it — if you are uncomfortable if you hear about ‘Maus,’ should you be worried — should your child say, ‘Oh my God, I wonder if that’s me? No. That’s not what they’re going to say. They’re going to say, ‘I don’t want to be like that.’”

“Well, hopefully,” Behar agreed.

“We’re living in an era where people are comparing vaccine cards to the yellow stars, the cards, where people are comparing vaccinations to what Anne Frank went through,” Navarro noted. “It’s necessary for kids to learn about the Holocaust.”

“Learning about man’s inhumanity to man however it exposes itself. I have to cut you off,” Goldberg wrapped the segment.

“Whoopi Goldberg explaining that the Holocaust wasn’t about race because these were ‘two groups of white people’ isn’t just insipid, it’s insidious,” Shapiro said. “It’s downplaying the minority status of Jews in order to uphold bulls*** intersectional arguments that justify anti-Semitism today.”

“The intersectional argument is that Jews are white people, and that Jews are disproportionately successful thanks to ‘white supremacy,'” he continued. “Because racism is ‘animus plus power,’ and Jews are powerful because they are white, anti-Semitism from non-white supremacists isn’t bigotry.”

“This logic is why the Left will condemn anti-Semitic attacks like the one at the Tree of Life but quickly memory hole anti-Semitic attacks by Black Hebrew Israelites in NJ or radical Muslims in TX,” Shapiro said in reference to the 2017 anti-Semitic attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue that left 11 dead. In New Jersey and elsewhere, members of the Black Hebrew Israelites reportedly hurl anti-Semitic language, claiming to be God’s “true chosen people.” In 2019, the suspects behind an anti-semitic in Jersey City, New Jersey, were reportedly Black Hebrew Israelites as well. In Mid-January, an Islamic extremist with a history of making anti-Semitic remarks held a Synagogue hostage, but the Left and even the FBI tried to say anti-Semitism had nothing to do with that attack.

“This logic is also why the Left will embrace and/or justify radical Islamists who wish to destroy the State of Israel rather than siding with a liberal democracy that includes a significant Muslim minority,” Shapiro added.

“Anti-Semitism, in this theory, is only present when it springs from actual white supremacists,” Shapiro observed. “Other acts of anti-Semitism are just a reflection of the dispossessed lashing out against those who have more institutional power.”

“The attempt to abstract the causes of the Holocaust from Jew-hatred to ‘man’s inhumanity to man’ is actually a way of obscuring and covering for anti-Semitism,” he concluded.

Separately, Shapiro’s comments come as the Anti-defamation League, “an international Jewish organization that is now headed by Jonathan Greenblatt, a former Obama administration official, has changed the definition of racism on its website to read, ‘The marginalization and/or oppression of people of color based on a socially constructed racial hierarchy that privileges white people,'” The Daily Wire reported.

As noted by The Daily Wire, in 2016, The Atlantic quoted Greenblatt saying, “There’s no doubt that the vast majority of American Jews live with what we would call white privilege. They aren’t looked at twice when they walk into a store. They aren’t looked at twice by someone in uniform … That obviously isn’t a privilege that people of color have the luxury of enjoying.”
