The Trump campaign’s fund-raising is off to a staggeringly good start in 2020 as they shatter fundraising records. Pro-Trump groups raised over $60 million in January,  and have more than $200 million on hand, as The Associated Press reports, drawing on figures provided by the RNC and the Trump campaign. Those figures represent double what former President Barack Obama’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee had at the same point in 2012.

AP added, “The Republican National Committee and President Donald Trump’s campaign have raised more than $525 million since the start of 2019 together with two joint-fundraising committees.”

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel stated, “We already have 500,000 volunteers trained and activated, and this record-breaking support is helping us grow our grassroots army even more.”

Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, gave his explanation for the resounding number of donations, arguing that Democrats’ “shameful impeachment hoax and dumpster fire primary process” have contributed to the “record-breaking financial support,” and adding, “With President Trump’s accomplishments, our massive data and ground operations and our strong fundraising numbers, this campaign is going to be unstoppable in 2020.”

AP wrote, “The pro-Trump effort said it has gained more than 1 million new digital and direct mail donors since Democrats launched heir push to impeach Trump in September 2019.”

The Daily Wire reported at the beginning of January that Trump had garnered enormous funds in the fourth quarter of 2019:

As reported by The Washington Times, Trump’s reelection campaign reported a stunning $46 million haul in the last quarter and says they’ve now got nearly $103 million on hand. The Q4 total is the campaign’s “best-ever haul,” the outlet notes. “The quarterly amount is money raised by the Trump campaign alone and doesn’t include funds from the Republican National Committee or any authorized joint fundraising committees,” The Washington Times points out.

The huge fundraising haul, the campaign suggests, comes in part because of rather than despite the Democrats’ impeachment campaign. “Democrats and the media have been in a sham impeachment frenzy, and the president’s campaign only got bigger and stronger with our best fundraising quarter this cycle,” said Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale. “The president’s war chest and grassroots army make his reelection campaign an unstoppable juggernaut.

In mid-October, The Daily Wire noted that Trump had raised more money than any other president at that point in their campaign:

Politico reports that Trump and the Republican National Coalition have raised more than $300 million, and the President alone has $158 million cash on hand to kick off his re-election bid, more than any other sitting president at this point in his campaign.

The numbers have Democrats worried, and at least one strategist told the Washington, D.C., based news outlet that, “[t]he resources he has will be put to work anywhere and everywhere that he feels like he can scare up electoral votes, and Democrats will never catch up. It’s just too much money.” …

Trump is also, Politico reports, ahead of the game on donor identification. Since the re-election campaign began amassing in early 2019, it’s been running “an expensive, far-reaching effort to find new small-dollar donors,” and its working. In just the last fundraising quarter, Trump 2020 has identified more than 300,000 new donors for the cost of just $4.2 million.
