Abortion activist and pop star Billie Eilish said she needs children and would “rather die” than remain childless, though she admits she is stressed out by the thought of her kids not listening to her.
The 20-year-old singer recently gave a wide-ranging interview to The Sunday Times about everything from her goal of becoming a mother someday to what it’s like touring the world with her family by her side. One of Eilish’s collaborators is her brother, Finneas, and her mom, Maggie, manages many of the details of her live shows, Page Six reported.
“[I would] rather die [than not have kids],” Eilish explained. “I need them.”
However, she admitted that while she looks forward to being a mother, she also “dreads” it.
“The older I get, the more I experience things, I just think, uuggh, what am I going to do when my kid thinks that this is the right thing to do and I’m, like, no, it’s not!” she said. “And they won’t listen to me.”
At one point, she also talked about traveling the world and working alongside her family.
“I definitely find my mom annoying but that’s because she’s my mom and everyone’s mom is annoying,” Eilish explained. “But I love her, she is like a book, she knows everything, and I’m so grateful because I don’t know s*** about s***.”
“Usually when you turn 18 you go to college and leave your whole family behind,” she added. “And it is so nice that we all get to travel the world.”
In October, the “Happier Than Ever” hitmaker used her concert in Austin to slam the recent Texas abortion ban, telling the crowd she was “sick and tired of old men” she claimed were responsible for its passage.
“When they made that s*** a law, I almost didn’t want to do the show,” the singer told the crowd at the NSFW show in a clip shared on social media. “Because I wanted to punish this f***ing place for allowing that to happen here.”
“But then I remembered that it’s you guys that are the f***ing victims, and you deserve everything in the world,” she added. “And we need to tell them to shut the f*** up! My body, my f***ing choice.”
