Months after a bicycle accident landed her in the hospital with a concussion, Amy Grant recently discussed her recovery after finally being able to take the stage for a Christmas concert.

The 62-year-old singer said her “healing journey” has been challenging and that she forgot the lyrics to her own songs during the show, Fox News reported.

“Last week was my first time back on stage, and I can’t think of a more gentle way to get back into the limelight than doing a Christmas concert with my dear friend Michael W. Smith,” Grant said.

“I was nervous that first day,” she added. “I forgot lyrics to songs that I wrote. I’m just on a healing journey, but this time here. You know, love and kindness is also very healing, and I’m not kidding – I feel filled up from head to toe.”

At one point, Grant, who’s married to country singer Vince Gill, credited her husband with helping her get back on her feet and feeling like her old self.

“He [Gill] has just been so patient,” the Christian music singer said. “Vince has a kind of way of grounding the space that we’re in even without saying a word.”

“I think early on I said, ‘What if I’m different, what if I’m not the same?’ and he said, ‘Hey, every day we wake up a little different, and we love each other, and it’s good,'” she added. “I feel like my old rascally self.”

The “Baby, Baby” hitmaker made headlines in July when she was riding her bike in Nashville and her tire hit a pothole, causing the singer to fall to the ground, as The Daily Wire previously reported.

“When she hit the pothole she was thrown from her bike and hit her head hard and was knocked out for about 10 [minutes] before being transported to the hospital by ambulance,” the singer’s rep shared at the time. “Every day she gets stronger and more alert/energetic.”

The accident forced her to cancel her fall tour.
