The Husband of a Hero Cop Who Died On 9/11 Returned Her ‘Woman Of The Year’ Award. Here’s Why.

A NYPD officer whose wife was posthumously honored with Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year award in December of 2001 returned the award in light of Glamour Magazine naming Caitlyn Jenner (formally the Olympic decathlon gold-medal recipient, Bruce Jenner, and now “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and “I Am Cait” reality star) as Woman of the Year this past month.

Officer Moira Smith died on that fateful day in September fourteen years ago when she was heroically running back and forth into one of the Twin Towers, in effort to save as many trapped people as possible. Her husband took the award on behalf of his courageous and self-sacrificing deceased wife.

But now James Smith, Moira’s husband and a fellow NYDP officer, has returned the award.

Smith called Glamour’s actions “insulting” and a “slap in the face” to his wife who received the same award fourteen years ago. He posted his outrage on Facebook: “At a time when we have women in the armed forces fighting and dying for our country, heroic doctors fighting deadly diseases, women police officers and firefighters putting their lives on the line for total strangers, brave women overcoming life threatening diseases…the list of possibilities goes on…is this the best you could do?”

“Is this is the best you can do?” is a question that more than holds water.

Jenner was honored with such an award for enabling his own physiological disease, gender dysmorphia, to be fully expressed. Jenner, who wears a dress and underwent many surgeries, such as receiving breast implants, still has that one appendage which one would think might eliminate Jenner from receiving a “Woman of the Year” award, as well as the biological DNA of a male. By contrast, Moira Smith risked her life to save as many people as possible after the United States was attacked by Islamic extremism. Her tragic death was the result of exceptional valor.

Glamour has since doubled-down for their curious appointment of Jenner; a spokesman for the magazine stated that they “stood by their decision,” adding of Smith, “We were proud to honor his wife… in 2001, and we stand by our decision to honor Caitlyn Jenner. Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards recognize women with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.”

Yes, women so “varied” that they aren’t even women at all.
