How The West Fell For Hamas’s Biggest Lie

This weekend, I had the dubious pleasure of hearing from an online troll who fanatically declared that I cannot comprehend what Israel is doing, that I justify innocent deaths, that I put terrorism on a pedestal, and that I am nothing but a soulless DailyLiar employee who supports murder. My offense? I said Israel is not committing genocide and pointed out Hamas’ lies.

Hilarious and ridiculous, I know.

Well, once again, I have been proven correct, and the perpetually aggrieved, anti-Israel, anti-American, pro-terror lobby has fresh evidence it will have to choke down.

Over the weekend, the Israel Defense Forces released damning footage of a terrorist using a child to ferry weapons into a civilian home in central Gaza. A literal, tiny human shield, on tape, treated as a terrorist’s invisibility cloak because Hamas knows Israel would never knowingly harm a child. Hamas, unlike Israel, doesn’t merely use children; it grooms them from a tender age to aid and abet.

This is a bona fide war crime, perpetrated by bona fide terrorists. So how did we come to swallow the biggest lie of the 21st century: that Hamas was the victim and Israel the villain?

Maybe because the media made it their life’s mission to sell us that fallacy. Mainstream outlets didn’t merely lie by omission; they manufactured false realities and eulogized terrorists.

The BBC, for instance, listed at least 53 Palestinians killed in Gaza as “journalists,” despite evidence tying them to Hamas and other jihadist terror groups. So when libs were clutching their pearls over “Israel killing free speech by eliminating journalists in Gaza,” we were right to roll our eyes and tune them out. Obviously, a military that maintains the lowest civilian-to-combatant casualty ratio in the history of urban warfare, with the eyes of the world upon it, would not go around purposefully truck-bombing media vans.

And what do you know, “journalists” in that case were code for bloodthirsty, Western-hating jihadists.

Another fable peddled by the propagandists was that Gazans were starving. The only problem is that Israel has shipped more food into Gaza than into any other wartime environment in history. In fact, most Gazans are overweight, and posting about it. In 2025, two years into the conflict, 71% of adults had a BMI over 25. If anyone isn’t getting food, it’s because Hamas terrorists are pilfering it for themselves.

What kind of genocidal, terror-driven regime delivers a ton of aid per person and also administers 1.1 million polio vaccinations to the Palestinian people in the last two years alone? The answer: genocidal nations don’t do that. Benevolent, Bible-believing nations do.

Hamas lied about the nature of this conflict. It lied about “genocide.” It lied about the root of any “starvation.” It lied about its military tactics. And large swaths of the free world believed every word, drinking deeply from a well of deceit instead of accepting the truth from our allies. Perhaps the West is too naive to imagine that children taught from their first day of school that America is evil would participate in deadly plots. Perhaps we’re too good-hearted to believe anyone would use a six-year-old to fend off an attack. Perhaps we’ve been conditioned beyond all common sense by the Left to believe the bad guys are good and the good guys are bad.

Whatever the reason, we got it wrong, and we fell for the brainwashing. Worse, we didn’t just let the bad guys poison our minds; we let them walk into our countries. Our empathy held the front door open for terrorism. Europe will fall first, because its empathy eviscerated boundaries the fastest, but we won’t be far behind if we ignore these warning signs.

Denmark, for instance, took in 321 Palestinians from Lebanon in 1992. By 2019, data showed that 64% had been convicted of at least one crime. Of the 999 children of the original refugees living in Denmark at the end of 2019, at least 34% had been convicted of a crime. Over in the Netherlands, a Dutch university brought over a student from Gaza. And what do you know? The little terrorist-in-the-making showed his fellow pupils a video of keffiyeh-clad terrorists, narrating, “October 7th. That’s me,” with a thumbs-up to the screen. In Britain, the Sunday Times reported over the weekend that the U.K. government had granted citizenship to the former bodyguard of slain Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh before authorities arrested him last November for allegedly plotting terror attacks against Jewish targets in Europe.

Great stuff, all around. We could’ve just avoided all of this.

If we continue to believe the media’s brazen lies; advocate, protest, and shriek on behalf of terror groups; and indulge in self-destructive, self-loathing exercises that do nothing but feed our fetish for complaining ad infinitum, we will end up conquered. And it will be our fault.

If we continue to tear each other to pieces over our support of the legitimate good guys, Israel, and our condemnation of the bad, Hamas, we will end up conquered. And it will be our fault.

If we continue to fixate on faux genocides while Sudan bleeds and Nigerian villages evaporate, and the loudest moralists among us can’t find either on a map, we will go down distracted. And it will be our fault. 

I’m not sure when we abdicated our common sense, critical thinking skills, and logic to join some trendy, feel-better-about-ourselves activist campaign, but the troll in my DMs proves some did. 

He says I can’t comprehend what’s happening in Gaza. I comprehend it fine. I comprehend that children are used as human shields, that terrorists are trained in classrooms from the age of six, that the media was complicit in the misinformation of all of it, and that none of these facts will make a lick of difference in his mind. He’ll keep calling me soulless, which is incorrect, but I’d rather be “soulless” and right than sanctimonious and wrong.
