<p>Texas Senate hopeful James Talarico, a Democrat, is again claiming the Bible supports his position that the government should allow the murder of unborn babies up until the moment of birth.</p>
<p>During a recently published episode of the hyper-progressive Jamie Kern Lima Show, Talarico claims the Bible is &#8220;silent&#8221; on abortion and suggests scripture backs his position that the government shouldn&#8217;t restrict abortion at all.</p>
<p>&#8220;I trust Texas women to make decisions about their own bodies, to shape their own destinies, in consultation with their family members, their doctors, their faith leaders,&#8221; Talarico told a delighted-looking Kern Lima.</p>
<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s a belief I hold, not despite my faith, but because of my faith,&#8221; the Democrat said. &#8220;Jesus never talks about abortion, the Bible is silent on abortion.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;We Christians have to take scripture as a whole, and we&#8217;ve got to try to make some kind of ethical determination,&#8221; Talarico said, adding that this has led him to his position.</p>
<p>&#8220;Right now, in Texas, we have the most extreme abortion ban in the country, no exception for rape, no exception for incest,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have girls as young as 10 years old who are assaulted, who are raped, who are victims of incest, and who can&#8217;t access basic reproductive care, who aren&#8217;t able to make the decision about whether or not they&#8217;re going to create.&#8221;</p>
<p>Notably, Talarico is not an advocate for only these exceptions being added to Texas&#8217; abortion ban, but instead believes in abortion on demand with zero restrictions.</p>
<p>&#8220;And again, just my personal belief is that we have to give women and girls the freedom to make this decision as moral agents, as our sisters in Christ,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I&#8217;m not saying that&#8217;s an easy decision to come to, but that&#8217;s where I&#8217;ve arrived.&#8221;</p>
<p>Christians — Protestants and Catholics alike — have criticized Talarico for using the faith to push for the murder of the unborn.</p>
<p>They&#8217;ve pointed to teachings in natural law and specific Bible verses, like Jeremiah 1:5, which reads, &#8220;Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you.&#8221; And the Fifth Commandment: &#8220;You shall not kill.&#8221;</p>
