Hollywood Celebrities Throw Christmas Fundraiser — For Planned Parenthood

There’s nothing quite like celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, perhaps the most important pregnancy of all time, by throwing a star-studded variety show fundraiser for the organization that ends the lives of more than 300,000 unplanned children every year.

But, of course, celebrities have no sense of irony, so they’re doing precisely that: throwing a “Christmas extravaganza” in Los Angeles, all for the benefit of Planned Parenthood. The “second annual Feliz Navipod’s Feliz Navidad Variety Show” will be held in Los Angeles next Monday. Tickets are $15.

Attendees will get to rub elbows with “This Is Us” star Mandy Moore, Tom Hanks’s son, Colin, and Mandy’s fiance, Taylor Goldsmith, who will perform at the event with his band. There will be door prizes.

“Things kind of suck right now. So, let’s try and make them not suck,” the show’s teaser reads. “Let’s have a fun night and get into the holiday spirit for a great cause at Feliz Navipod’s Feliz Navidad Variety Show. A night of comedy and music benefiting Planned Parenthood. PLUS, free Christmas treats!”

The show is expected to turn in a pretty penny for Planned Parenthood, which has recently complained that the $500 million it gets in fungible government grants isn’t enough to cover its expenses.

Weirdly enough, this isn’t the first — or only — abortion-themed Christmas event benefiting (or even planned by) Planned Parenthood. The organization delights in ghoulishly co-opting the Christian holiday, and has done everything from sell Christmas ornaments fashioned from discarded birth control cases, to advertising Planned Parenthood gift cards for all your holiday abortion-giving needs. One year, they even had their own set of perfectly charming holiday cards that read, “Choice on Earth.”
