<p>Supermodel Linda Evangelista revealed in a recent interview that she has battled and overcome not one but two breast cancer diagnoses over the last few years.</p>
<p>The 58-year-old <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/09/05/linda-evangelista-reveals-she-had-breast-cancer-twice-in-5-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Canadian fashion model</a> told the <a href="https://www.wsj.com/style/fashion/linda-evangelista-steven-meisel-32909b7b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wall Street Journal</a> that after she was diagnosed in 2018 with cancer she told her doctor to take off both breasts because &#8220;breast cancer was not going to kill&#8221; her.</p>
<p>&#8220;It was detected in my annual mammogram,&#8221; Evangelista said. &#8220;The margins were not good, and due to other health factors, without hesitation, because I wanted to put everything behind me and not to have to deal with this, I opted for a bilateral mastectomy.&#8221;</p>

<p>So she underwent the surgery and thought she would be &#8220;good and set for life.&#8221;</p>
<p>However, in 2022 she found a lump on her breast, had it checked out, and discovered it was cancerous. Evangelista said after the second diagnosis she told her doctor, &#8220;Dig a hole in my chest.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t want it to look pretty. I want you to excavate,&#8221; the model recalled telling her doctor. &#8220;I want to see a hole in my chest when you&#8217;re done. Do you understand me? I&#8217;m not dying from this.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I just went into this mode that I know how to do — just do what you&#8217;ve got to do and get through it,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;And that&#8217;s what I did.&#8221;</p>
<p>Now she said the prognosis is &#8220;good,&#8221; but she wouldn&#8217;t say it was &#8220;great&#8221; and explained that she received a &#8220;horrible oncotype score,&#8221; which represents the likelihood of the cancer returning, the outlet noted.</p>

<p>Evangelista said she knows she has &#8220;one foot in the grave&#8221; but is &#8220;totally in celebration mode,&#8221; and everything that happens from here on out she considers is a &#8220;bonus.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve come through some horrible health issues,&#8221; the model said. &#8220;I&#8217;m at a place where I&#8217;m so happy celebrating my book, my life. I&#8217;m so happy to be alive. Anything that comes now is bonus.&#8221;</p>
<p>The legendary ’80s and ’90s star returned to the fashion runway in 2022 during New York Fashion Week after retreating from the spotlight for more than seven years following a &#8220;botched&#8221; cosmetic procedure, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/09/05/linda-evangelista-reveals-she-had-breast-cancer-twice-in-5-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Page Six</a> noted.</p>
