Supermodel Linda Evangelista revealed in a recent interview that she has battled and overcome not one but two breast cancer diagnoses over the last few years.
The 58-year-old Canadian fashion model told the Wall Street Journal that after she was diagnosed in 2018 with cancer she told her doctor to take off both breasts because “breast cancer was not going to kill” her.
“It was detected in my annual mammogram,” Evangelista said. “The margins were not good, and due to other health factors, without hesitation, because I wanted to put everything behind me and not to have to deal with this, I opted for a bilateral mastectomy.”

So she underwent the surgery and thought she would be “good and set for life.”
However, in 2022 she found a lump on her breast, had it checked out, and discovered it was cancerous. Evangelista said after the second diagnosis she told her doctor, “Dig a hole in my chest.”
“I don’t want it to look pretty. I want you to excavate,” the model recalled telling her doctor. “I want to see a hole in my chest when you’re done. Do you understand me? I’m not dying from this.”
“I just went into this mode that I know how to do — just do what you’ve got to do and get through it,” she continued. “And that’s what I did.”
Now she said the prognosis is “good,” but she wouldn’t say it was “great” and explained that she received a “horrible oncotype score,” which represents the likelihood of the cancer returning, the outlet noted.

Evangelista said she knows she has “one foot in the grave” but is “totally in celebration mode,” and everything that happens from here on out she considers is a “bonus.”
“I’ve come through some horrible health issues,” the model said. “I’m at a place where I’m so happy celebrating my book, my life. I’m so happy to be alive. Anything that comes now is bonus.”
The legendary ’80s and ’90s star returned to the fashion runway in 2022 during New York Fashion Week after retreating from the spotlight for more than seven years following a “botched” cosmetic procedure, Page Six noted.
