Gingrich: CNN Needs Special Counsel To Investigate Its Very Fake News Problem

CNN needs an “outside analyst” to help provide a “reset” for the news media outlet, said Newt Gingrich on Tuesday.

Joining Fox News Channel’s (FNC) Fox & Friends, Gingrich described CNN’s culture as “toxic” and in need of a cleansing:

[CNN] should appoint an outside analyst — somebody of impeccable authority, somebody like a Michael Mukasey who used to be the attorney general of the United States — to come in and review everything at CNN, and basically reset it. You cannot get to be a believable network while [Jeffrey Zucker] is there. He clearly made a gamble last year to be the leading anti-Trump network; he’s clearly done things that are absurdly wrong. I like lots of the people at CNN, I worked with them for awhile. There are some very good people at CNN with a very long tradition of being good journalists, but the culture of the overall system, right now, is very toxic, and I think they should bring in an outside person, like [Michael Mukasey] to review the whole culture, and to reset, so that people can have faith in CNN again.

CNN and FNC are renewing a war of words, with CNN’s Brian Stelter describing Fox & Friends as an “infomercial” for President Donald Trump. CNN news media figures often describe FNC as a “conservative” news media outlet.

CNN presents itself as a politically objective and non-partisan news media outlet, marketing itself as “The Most Trusted Name In News.”
