George Zimmerman on Trayvon Martin’s Parents: ‘They Didn’t Raise Their Son Right’

In an interview with The Daily Beast, George Zimmerman criticized the way Trayvon Martin’s parents raised their son.

Zimmerman made the headline-grabbing comments during an interview in which he explained why he had no regrets about killing Martin.

“They didn’t raise their son right. He attacked a complete stranger and attempted to kill him,” Zimmerman said. “Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin did everything they could to capitalize on her son’s death. She was never a mother figure to him. Tracy Martin couldn’t have cared less about their son. He treated him like a dog without a leash.”

Zimmerman continued, “I’m sorry for any parent that has lost a child. That being said, I also believe it’s their duty to have an internal dialogue to see what they should have done better and what they should have done appropriately.”

Zimmerman also lamented the fact that he can no longer live as a “normal” individual. “You guys. The media. The masses. The Fulton-Martin family. They took that from me,” Zimmerman said.

The interview also featured Zimmerman ripping into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Black Lives Matter movement.

“It’s about her as an individual,” Zimmerman said. “It doesn’t matter if she was running for president or if she was running her own used car lot, which I think she’s still unqualified for.”

While Zimmerman is undecided on if he will vote for real estate mogul Donald Trump, he vowed to “do whatever it takes to dispel [Clinton’s] lies and disrupt the Black Lives Matter movement.”

Zimmerman has been back in the spotlight since he put the gun he used to kill Martin on an auction site, lauding it as a “piece of American history” and pledging to donate the proceeds to fight against Clinton and the Black Lives Matter movement. He is currently on his third attempt to sell the gun online after the first attempt received too much attention and the second attempt failed due to internet trolls driving the price over $66 million.

The Martin family’s attorney, Benjamin Crump, did not respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
