UPDATE: The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans said they are reviewing a “manifesto” allegedly penned by the suspect, identified as Vance Boelter, but the motivation has still not been determined.
Original report:
Minnesota law enforcement officials confirmed on Saturday that the suspect involved in the murder and attempted murder of four people, including state lawmakers, had the names of other elected officials and anti-Trump “No Kings” protest flyers in his vehicle.
Additionally, the suspect, identified as Vance Boelter, 57, was appointed to Minnesota Democrat Governor Tim Walz’s Workforce Development Council in 2019.
“When we did a search of the vehicle, there was a manifesto that identified many lawmakers and other officials. We immediately made alerts to the state. We took action on alerting them and providing security where necessary,” said Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley, according to the Associated Press.
State Patrol Col. Christina Bogojevic said during a presser that the suspect had “No Kings” flyers in his car, displaying a photo of the materials (see below). “No Kings” is a reference to nationwide left-wing protests taking place on Saturday to object to President Donald Trump.
Organizers of “No Kings” protests in the state of Minnesota have canceled today’s events.
