Florida rapper Rollie Bands was gunned down and killed outside his home only minutes after he reportedly took to Instagram and dared his critics to confront him.

Bands was shot in the parking lot outside his apartment complex in Tampa on Friday, the Daily Mail reported. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet it had responded to a person shot in the rapper’s complex’s parking lot at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The report noted that the shooting happened just five minutes after Bands posted a message on his Instagram story.

“A lot of these n****s know where I live at fr,” the rapper reportedly wrote, according to HipHopdx. “I sleep in peace.”

“If a n**** want smoke I’m at my crib in 5 mins,” he added before he reportedly provided the information about exactly where he would be.

“At this time, the shooting does not appear random, as the suspects and victim are possibly known to each other,” the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office noted, RevoltTV reported.

The Daily Mail reported that law enforcement continues to search for suspects who fled the scene in an unknown direction. Authorities have yet to specify exactly how many suspects might be involved. At the time of this publication, no arrests have been made.

Following news of the rapper’s death, social media users took to Twitter and shared messages in his honor.

“Rest in paradise to Rollie Bands,” one person wrote. “So sad and senseless. He should still be alive.”

Another wrote: “RIP to a beautiful soul.”
