British Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson, a member of the left-wing Taking the Initiative Party, was reportedly shot in the head near a London house party over the weekend and is in “critical condition.”
“Taking the Initiative Party said she was being treated in intensive care after being shot in the head in the early hours of Sunday morning,” the BBC reported. The Metropolitan Police said a 27-year-old woman was shot shortly before 03:00 at a gathering in Southwark. The force has not confirmed the woman’s identity.”
The Metropolitan Police said that the woman had “life-threatening injuries” and appealed to the public for information about the shooting.
“We are all hoping that this young woman’s condition improves. Our investigation is in its early stages and urgent enquiries are under way to establish the circumstances,” Detective Chief Inspector Jimi Tele said. “I would appeal to the residents of Consort Road and the surrounding area to check any doorbell or dashcam footage for any suspicious activity that may relate to this investigation.”
The BBC further noted that police had indicated that at this point in their investigating there was “no evidence to suggest it was a targeted shooting or that she had received any credible threats against her prior to the incident.”
The far-left political party that Johnson belongs to issued a statement on Facebook, writing:
It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has sustained a gunshot wound to her head. She is currently hospitalized and in a critical condition. The incident happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats.
Sasha has always been actively fighting for black people and the injustices that surround the black community, as well as being both a member of BLM and a member of Taking the Initiative Party’s Executive Leadership Committee. Sasha is also a mother of 3 and a strong, powerful voice for our people and our community.
Let’s all come together and pray for Sasha, pray for her recovery and show our support to her family and loved ones.
Journalist Andy Ngo, who tracks far-left extremism, highlighted a bit of Johnson’s background on Twitter following the incident.
“BLM leader Sasha Johnson is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in London,” Ngo wrote. “She rose in prominence last year for her advocacy of the creation of an armed black militia, the abolishment of police and the overthrowing of capitalism.”

“BLM leader Sasha Johnson was controversial not just for her political activism, but for her confrontations with others as well,” Ngo added. “The woman was severely injured in a shooting.”
“I promise you, I don’t threaten. Come out there-let’s live through the promise”

The Daily Wire previously reported on remarks that Johnson made late last year where she called for there to be a “race offenders” registry, a national database of anyone who was even “accused” of being racist, which would ban people on the list from living near minority communities.
“It’s similar to the sex offenders register. If you were to be racially abusive to someone, [the register] would question whether someone is fit enough to hold a particular job where their bias could influence another person’s life,” she said. “If you live in a majority-colored neighborhood you shouldn’t reside there because you’re a risk to those people – just like if a sex offender lived next to a school he would be a risk to those children.”
