The decade's most triggering comedy
One question at the forefront of the minds of supporters and critics alike of former President Donald Trump is whether he will return to the campaign trail and run for president once more in 2024.
In the latest episode of “Candace,” which airs on Tuesday May 4 at 9 p.m. EST exclusively for Daily Wire members, Candace Owens asked Mr. Trump that very question.
“I just want to ask you one more question because I’m sure you’ve gotten this question tons of times,” Owens began. “But are you going to run in 2024?”
“And if so, can I be your vice president?” Owens added with a smile.
Candace Owens first teased a potential run for president in the United States in February in a collection of social media posts that went viral.
“I love America,” Owens tweeted. “Thinking about running for President.”
When a Twitter user wrote that, “Today’s GOP is fundamentally an authoritarian white nationalist party,” and that “Candace Owen would NEVER be their nominee,” Owens responded, “This won’t age well.”
On the subject of running alongside Candace Owens, Trump described the idea as “fantastic.”
“Ah, that’s very interesting. Wow. What a good choice that would be. That would be fantastic,” Trump responded.
“You would be fantastic and you know, I really appreciate the job you do, and everybody does,” Trump continued.
The former president then moved on to the topic of 2024, saying that he was “enthused” and looking forward to announcing his plans “at the right time.”
“The answer is I’m absolutely enthused. I look forward to doing an announcement at the right time,” Trump hinted. “As you know, it’s very early, but I think people are going to be very, very happy … when I make a certain announcement.”
“For campaign finance reasons, you really can’t do it too early because it becomes a whole different thing,” Trump clarified. “Otherwise I’d give you an answer that I think you’d be very happy with,” he added.
“So we are looking at that very, very seriously. And uh, all I’ll say is stay tuned!” the former president concluded.
“Well, I guess we’ll take you at your word,” Owens responded. “And that means that in 2024, Trump and Owens are going to be on the ticket!”
Back in February, The Guardian reported that “If the 2024 Republican presidential primary were held today, Donald Trump would be the clear favorite to win big,” referencing a Politico-Morning Consult poll which indicated that 59% of Republican voters said they “wanted Trump to play a prominent role in their party,” and that 54% “would back Trump in the primary.”
