Hollywood star Zachary Levi endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his bid for the U.S. Senate, telling The Daily Wire that the state needs a fighter willing to take on the political establishment.

“Now, more than ever, we need warriors willing to stand up to the establishment of both parties,” Levi said in an exclusive statement to The Daily Wire. “And I believe Ken Paxton is one of those warriors.”

“Whether it’s fighting big pharma, big tech, or big government, he’s put himself on the line consistently for Texas,” added Levi, who is best known for starring in NBC’s “Chuck” and playing the titular superhero in DC’s “Shazam!” films.

“Texas is my home, and Texas needs someone unafraid, and unwilling to backdown when the world is against them,” the actor added. “I’m looking forward to voting for Ken Paxton, and I’m excited to see him continue fighting in the senate.”

The endorsement comes just days before early voting begins in the hotly contested race. Paxton is facing off against Democrat James Talarico, who was recently absent from the campaign trail for 10 days during the final stretch of the race. The race is considered a toss-up, with Talarico holding a narrow lead, according to the latest polls.

Levi made a name for himself in Hollywood starring as Chuck Bartowski in NBC’s action-comedy series “Chuck,” which ran from 2007 to 2012. He later voiced Flynn Rider in Disney’s hit animated film “Tangled” and starred as the titular superhero in DC’s “Shazam!” franchise. The first “Shazam!” film grossed approximately $368 million worldwide. He also appeared in the Emmy-winning series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

Levi bought a ranch outside Austin, Texas, in 2017, and has spoken about his desire to build projects outside the traditional Hollywood system. He’s been transparent about his departure from Los Angeles, telling Fox News in 2025 that California is a “failed state.”

“I grew up in California. I love California. It is a failed state. It is literally and figuratively on fire,” he said, referring to the devastating wildfires that ravaged the Los Angeles area.

The actor’s political evolution has set him apart from Hollywood’s liberal establishment. After publicly questioning pharmaceutical giant Pfizer in 2023, the “Shazam!” star backed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. before endorsing President Donald Trump in September 2024, a move he acknowledged could make his career more difficult.

However, Levi told The Daily Wire in 2025 that he felt he had to come out to support Trump, no matter what happened to his career as a consequence.

“If I save my career, but Kamala [Harris] gets into office and we continue down this death spiral to the bottom that I fully believe that we were on … I was like, I can’t,” he said. “God did not build me to do that. God built me to fight.”
