Several European countries will expand their military presence around Greenland, the Danish Armed Forces announced Wednesday.
“The geopolitical tensions have spread to the Arctic,” the Danish Ministry of Defence said. “From today, there will be an expanded military presence in and around Greenland – in close cooperation with NATO allies.”

The Danish leaders attending the meeting are expected to hold a press conference later on Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, Trump reiterated his view that Greenland is “vital” for the U.S. missile defense system, the so-called “Golden Dome,” and urged NATO to take the lead. “The United States needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security… If we don’t, Russia or China will, and that is not going to happen!” he wrote.
Trump added that NATO’s effectiveness depends on American strength and that Greenland under U.S. control would make the alliance “far more formidable.”

The Trump administration said Wednesday that the second phase of President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan to end the war in Gaza has begun, a step aimed at establishing a “technocratic” Palestinian administration and launching the demilitarization and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
“Today, on behalf of President Trump, we are announcing the launch of Phase Two of the President’s 20-Point Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, moving from ceasefire to demilitarization, technocratic governance, and reconstruction,” Special Envoy Steve Witkoff <a href="https://x.com/SEPeaceMissions/status/2011478211075391845">announced</a>. 
President Trump is expected to soon unveil the leadership of Gaza’s new technocratic governing body, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). The group of unelected experts and professionals will oversee the transitional period as armed groups are dismantled and reconstruction begins.
Witkoff said the United States expects Hamas to “comply fully with its obligations,” including the return of the body of Ran Gvili, the final Israeli hostage held in Gaza.
“Failure to do so will bring serious consequences,” Witkoff said.
The Palestinian Authority <a href="https://x.com/HusseinSheikhpl/status/2011445660499775945">publicly welcomed</a> the launch of the second phase, signaling rare alignment with the Trump administration. 
In a statement, Palestinian Authority President Hussein Al Sheikh said the Palestinian Presidency “welcomes the efforts undertaken by President Donald Trump to complete the implementation of his peace plan,” and announced its support for the NCAG as well as the “Board of Peace.”
The new Gaza governing body will be supported by a Trump-led Board of Peace with former United Nations envoy Nickolay Mladenov as the representative on the ground, Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/12/26/trump-netanyahu-meeting-gaza-mar-a-lago">reported</a>. 
Al Sheikh said the Palestinian Authority worked in close coordination with Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Mladenov to move into the second phase. 
“The Presidency expresses its deep appreciation and gratitude for the decisive leadership demonstrated by President Donald Trump, whose direct engagement and determination have contributed to creating a new opportunity for peace, stability, and good governance in Gaza,” Al Sheikh said.
At the same time, Al Sheikh added that he believes it’s important to link the Palestinian Authority institutions in the West Bank to the new governing structure in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-vows-total-victory-against-hamas-says-pa-rejects-israel-cant-rule-gaza/">publicly opposed</a> the Palestinian Authority having oversight in Gaza, citing its long practice of rewarding terrorists for killing Israelis.
Phase One of the plan, implemented in October, established a ceasefire, secured the return of all living hostages and most of the deceased, and delivered a surge of humanitarian aid. 
More than 20 countries signaled support for the ceasefire at President Trump’s Peace Summit in Egypt, including Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, whose roles Witkoff described as having “indispensable mediation efforts that made all progress to date possible.”

Trump Launches Phase Two Of Gaza Plan, Backed by Palestinian Authority

The Trump administration designated three branches of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations on Tuesday and imposed new sanctions in an effort to curb the Islamic extremist group.
The administration singled out the Lebanese branch for the harshest designation, labeling it a Foreign Terrorist Organization, a classification that criminalizes any material support under federal law. The Jordanian and Egyptian branches were designated as global terrorist entities for their support for Hamas, which the United States also classifies as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
“These designations reflect the opening actions of an ongoing, sustained effort to thwart Muslim Brotherhood chapters’ violence and destabilization wherever it occurs,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement. “The United States will use all available tools to deprive these Muslim Brotherhood chapters of the resources to engage in or support terrorism.”
In November, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-signs-executive-order-targeting-the-muslim-brotherhood">signed an executive order</a> paving the way for his administration to classify certain Muslim Brotherhood chapters as terrorist organizations. He said that “final documents are being drawn” for the designation to be “done in the strongest and most powerful terms.”
Trump’s executive order states that the Lebanese chapter joined Hamas and Hezbollah and other Palestinian factions to launch rockets at both civilians and military targets in Israel. It listed the Egyptian chapter as calling for “violent attacks against United States partners and interests” and the Jordanian chapter’s leaders as providing “material support to the militant wing of Hamas.”
“Such activities threaten the security of American civilians in the Levant and other parts of the Middle East, as well as the safety and stability of our regional partners,” the order said.
The move comes after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued state-level orders in late 2025 labeling both the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations. CAIR, which describes itself as the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy group in the United States, responded by suing both state governments and declaring that it does not support terrorism. Following DeSantis’s declaration, the group accused the Florida governor of being “Israel first.”
Abbott called on the Trump administration to strip CAIR of its tax-exempt status for its alleged ties to foreign terrorist organizations. He argued that federal investigators and court filings have identified CAIR as “a direct subsidiary of the Muslim Brotherhood” and as a “front group” for Hamas in the United States. He also cited a recent report that claims CAIR awarded $1,000 cash grants to college students who disrupted classes and intimidated or harassed fellow students “while celebrating Hamas’s October 7th attack.” 
The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Egypt in 1928. Its founder, Hassan al-Banna, spoke openly about fighting non-Muslims through jihad and wrote that “Jihad is an obligation from Allah and every Muslim and cannot be ignored nor evaded.”
Egypt banned the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013, and Jordan followed in April 2025.

Trump Designates Three Muslim Brotherhood Branches As Terrorist Organizations

In 1823, President James Monroe stood before Congress and warned European powers that if they intervened in the American hemisphere, the United States would send them packing.
Two centuries after the great Virginian elucidated what came to be known as the Monroe Doctrine, his successor has launched a new standard for American foreign intervention, not with a speech, but with a series of decisive actions.
Over the past few months, President Donald Trump has ratcheted up American attacks on Venezuelan drug cartels, dubbing them “narcoterrorists” and striking their boats. Things reached a fever pitch earlier this month when an elite military unit captured Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and brought him to New York to stand trial for his crimes.
In a press conference following the daring early-morning raid in Caracas, Trump acknowledged that his approach to foreign policy went far beyond the tenets of the Monroe Doctrine.
“They now call it the ‘Donroe Doctrine,’&#8221; the president said. &#8220;American dominance in the Western Hemisphere will never be questioned again.&#8221;
This was more than just another clever Trump-era nickname. In the first year of his second term, Trump has shed the isolationism that mostly defined his first administration, opting instead for targeted, precise foreign operations designed to topple or contain America’s enemies. Secretary of State Marco Rubio—who has long warned about Latin America’s socialist regimes, transnational cartels, and foreign adversaries—has emerged as a central architect and enforcer of the doctrine.
What began with the use of “bunker buster” bombs on Iran’s underground nuclear facilities is now playing out in Central and South America, and Maduro may only be the tip of the iceberg.
Trump has <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/01/03/trump-venezela-mexico-00710063" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused</a> Colombian President Gustavo Petro of “making cocaine” and warned that he “does need to watch his a**” following Maduro’s capture. He’s warned Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum that the United States may intervene if she can’t control the cartels running her country. And he’s pledged to cut Cuba off from its supply of Venezuelan oil, potentially setting the stage for intervention on the communist-ruled island.
The Donroe Doctrine sits between the isolationist and interventionist schools that have long vied for control of American foreign policy. Trump has long criticized American interventionism and does not view his actions as launching more long, unwinnable, resource-draining wars in faraway lands. He sees the Donroe Doctrine as asserting hemispheric hegemony through swift action.
But the Donroe Doctrine isn’t just speaking softly and carrying a big stick, as President Theodore Roosevelt once put it — it’s swinging that stick to assert American power across the Western Hemisphere.
“Operation Absolute Resolve,” the mission that led to Maduro’s capture, underscores this point. The massive joint strike launched from more than 20 bases, involving 150 aircraft, cyber operations to cripple Venezuelan defenses, and the coordinated use of special forces and helicopters to seize Maduro.
Trump did not mince words when he offered his explanation for the move: he wanted to stop the flow of drugs that are killing Americans and wanted U.S. oil companies the opportunity to rebuild in Venezuela after having their assets nationalized two decades ago.
Venezuela is ruled by a socialist regime allied with Russia, indebted to China, smuggling oil with Iran in defiance of U.S. sanctions, and working with Hezbollah to launder money. It is no wonder, then, that Trump showcased American military might to intervene in Venezuela and assert the Monroe Doctrine.
To boil the Donroe Doctrine down to one sentence: bad actors in the Western Hemisphere will no longer operate with impunity.
The Donroe Doctrine is about more than combating bad actors, however. It also involves strategic plays that will benefit American interests, often advanced through the president’s trademark dealmaking mindset.
Consider Trump’s first major foreign policy move of this term: asserting influence over the Panama Canal.
In his inaugural address, Trump said he was “taking back” the canal, citing Chinese influence and accusing the United States of being “ripped off” by fees for using the canal it helped build. After intense diplomatic pressure, American military vessels gained priority and discounted transit, while efforts to curb Chinese influence, including the planned sale of two ports owned by a Hong Kong-based company to BlackRock, are <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/dec/30/the-guardian-view-on-the-new-monroe-doctrine-trumps-forceful-approach-to-the-western-hemisphere-comes-at-a-cost#:~:text=Mr%20Trump's%20vociferous%20complaints%20about,the%20US%20investment%20firm%20BlackRock." target="_blank" rel="noopener">still underway</a>.
This month, Panama’s President José Raúl Mulino <a href="https://www.seatrade-maritime.com/security/panama-president-mulino-says-crisis-with-the-us-is-over" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declared</a> last year’s crisis with the Trump administration officially over.
“Panama moved toward a relationship of respect, restored trust, joint work, and friendship, and the canal remained Panamanian, as it will indeed continue to be,” Mulino said to Panama’s National Assembly.
Trump’s pursuit of Greenland, which he says is vital for “national security” because of growing Russian and Chinese activity, is another example of the Donroe Doctrine in action. Greenland may be peaceful, but as an autonomous territory of Denmark, it relies on Copenhagen for defense — and Denmark can’t be trusted to fully secure such a strategic island.
Whether Trump seeks to annex Greenland or simply keep rivals away, he’s sending a clear message: every strategic corner of the Western Hemisphere matters under the Donroe Doctrine.

What Is The ‘Donroe Doctrine,’ President Trump’s New Foreign Policy?

Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi says he is prepared to return to Iran for the first time since 1979 for the “ultimate battle” as nationwide protests expand and President Donald Trump threatens to take action against the Iranian regime.
“I&#8217;ve trained all my life to serve my nation,” he said in an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity. “I am more than ever ready to step into Iran. I will be there with my compatriots to lead the ultimate battle.”
Pahlavi’s remarks come as demonstrations have spread across 27 of Iran’s 31 provinces, resulting in at least 35 deaths, including two children, according to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency. The protests are the largest the regime has faced in years.
About 1,200 people have reportedly been detained in connection with the protests. The <a href="https://hengaw.net/en/news/2026/01/article-45">Hengaw Organization for Human Rights</a> has documented many of the arrests, including a significant number involving Iranian Kurds, a long-persecuted minority in Iran. The regime has also reportedly attempted to suppress the protests by cutting the internet in areas around the country.
According to Pahlavi, his return would not be to resume the power his father, the former Shah, was stripped of during the Iranian Revolution, but will be to guide a political transition to a democracy.
“My role is to help my compatriots achieve that goal to bring about a peaceful end by means of a national referendum and a constitutional assembly,” he said. “I am impartial as to what the ultimate result will be as long as it&#8217;s a secular democracy.”
Born in Tehran to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Empress Farah Diba, Reza Pahlavi was officially named crown prince in 1967 at the age of seven. While he was in the United States undergoing pilot training, his father was overthrown during the 1979 Iranian Revolution, forcing the royal family into exile. Since his father’s death in 1980, Pahlavi has emerged as a prominent opponent of the Islamic Republic and an advocate for democracy in Iran.
As demonstrations entered their second week, Mr. Pahlavi has highlighted the protests and called for continued participation, claiming that he’s “never seen an opportunity as we see today in Iran.”
“Iranian people are more than ever committed to bringing an end to this regime, as the world has witnessed the last few days,” he said to Hannity. “The levels of demonstrations are unprecedented in Iran — over 100 cities, millions of people in the streets chanting ‘death to the dictator’ and ‘end to this regime.’”
On Wednesday, Mr. Pahlavi <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/irans-pahlavi-calls-for-action-the-crown-prince-challenges-the-crumbling-walls-of-tehran">urged Iranians</a> to take part in coordinated chants from their streets or homes at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
“I call on you to begin chanting exactly at this time,” he said in <a href="https://x.com/PahlaviReza/status/2008609747931721831">a video message</a> posted to X. “Based on your response, I will announce the next calls to action.”
Pahlavi also used social media to address Iran’s armed forces, urging them to protect civilians and warning that those who continue repression or firing at civilians will be identified and punished. He encouraged the forces to register for a secure “National Collaboration Platform” to declare allegiance to the people and separate themselves from what he described as the regime’s “sinking ship.”
Pahlavi also addressed international audiences in a new op-ed for the Washington Post, published shortly after Trump’s capture of former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. 
In the op-ed, he described the protests as a potential turning point and praised Trump’s “clear and firm support for the Iranian people,” which has included Trump threatening to take action if the regime kills peaceful protesters. 
“For protesters facing prison, torture, or death, knowing they are not alone matters,” he wrote. “For the regime, it is a reminder that intimidation no longer guarantees survival. We saw proof of that in Venezuela.”
In the op-ed, he lays out the specifics of his plan for a peaceful transition of power in Iran, aiming to move the country from decades of clerical rule to a secular democracy. Pahlavi says he created the “Iran Prosperity Project,” a network of more than 100 Iranian experts who have “developed detailed, sector-by-sector plans for an orderly transition that preserves essential services, stabilizes the economy and restores confidence at home and abroad.”
According to Pahlavi, supporting the Iranian protesters is an “investment in global stability” to counter the regime that is known for funding terrorist networks around the world.
The State Department’s Farsi language account has taken an active role in sharing videos from the ongoing protests, including <a href="https://x.com/USABehFarsi/status/2009062556011282886">a video</a> on Wednesday evening showing an Iranian renaming a street after President Trump.
“We honor the action of an anonymous individual in Tehran who named a street after President Trump,” the account posted. “The United States respects the voice of the Iranian people and their aspirations.”

Iran’s Exiled Crown Prince Says He Is Ready To Return For ‘Ultimate Battle’

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Venezuela’s interim authorities will transfer between 30 and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the United States.
The move comes just days after Trump said the U.S. would take control of Venezuela and its oil following the capture of former dictator Nicolás Maduro on Saturday.
Trump described the oil as “high quality” and said it would be delivered immediately to U.S. ports on storage ships.
“This Oil will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America, to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States!” <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115850817778602689">Trump posted</a>. “I have asked Energy Secretary Chris Wright to execute this plan, immediately.”
The Venezuelan shipment is enough to supply the United States for roughly one and a half to two and a half days, based on America’s <a href="https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/oil-and-petroleum-products/data-and-statistics.php?utm_source=chatgpt.com">daily consumption</a> of about 20 million barrels.
Venezuela currently produces only 900,000 to 1.1 million barrels per day, according to <a href="https://en.ultimasnoticias.com.ve/economy/petroleum/Venezuela-records-a-sustained-increase-in-oil-production/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">Venezuelan media</a>, marking a sharp drop from the roughly 3 million barrels a day <a href="https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2025/06/25/Venezuela-Cardon-refinery-blackout/8741750861108/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">it produced </a>before socialist Hugo Chávez took power in the late 1990s.
Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, who was sworn in on Monday, initially took a harsh approach to Trump capturing her predecessor, but has since become more conciliatory.
On Sunday, Rodriguez <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DTHIbhkjPSf/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1">called for</a> “moving towards balanced and respectful international relations between the United States and Venezuela.”
&#8220;We invite the U.S. government to collaborate with us on an agenda of cooperation oriented towards shared development within the framework of international law to strengthen lasting community coexistence,” she added. “President Donald Trump, our peoples and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war.”

Rodríguez, 56, has been such a loyal and unflinching defender of Maduro’s socialist government that the former dictator once <a href="https://archive.is/o/7vljo/https://www.reuters.com/article/world/venezuelas-tiger-foreign-minister-rodriguez-quits-idUSKBN19D037/">called her</a> a “tiger.”
She is the daughter of left‑wing guerrilla leader Jorge Antonio Rodríguez, who helped found the Liga Socialista party in the 1970s. An attorney by training, Rodríguez has held several of the most powerful posts in Venezuela’s government, including Minister of Petroleum, President of the Constituent Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Popular Power for Communication and Information, in addition to serving as vice president.
In 2018, she was sanctioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the European Union for her role in Nicolás Maduro’s inner circle and for undermining democracy. She responded by blasting the measures as the product of “racist” and “warmongering” policies of the “old imperial world,” the Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/general-news-b9dacdedc04c462b8966e756bbb7ff66">reported at the time</a>.
Rodriguez was named vice president in 2018 by Maduro, who <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/who-is-delcy-rodriguez-vice-president-who-could-replace-venezuelas-maduro-2026-01-03/">described</a> her as “a young woman, brave, seasoned, daughter of a martyr, revolutionary and tested in a thousand battles.”
Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, María Corina Machado, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/nobel-peace-prize-recipient-machado-pledges-return-venezuela-sees-alarming-internal-crackdown">told</a> Fox News that Rodríguez is as dangerous as Maduro.
“Delcy Rodriguez, as you know, is one of the main architects of torture, persecution, corruption, narco trafficking,” Machado said. “She’s the main ally and liaison with Russia, China, Iran, certainly not an individual that could be trusted by international investors. And she’s really rejected, repudiated by the Venezuelan people.”
Despite the gesture from leaders, plain-clothes gunmen tied to the pro-Maduro “Colectivos” paramilitary group were deployed to Venezuela&#8217;s streets on Tuesday where they stopped vehicles to search phones and belongings looking for supporters of the United States capturing Maduro.
Police were also reportedly instructed to “search and capture of everyone involved in the promotion or support for the armed attack by the United States.”
