“We are simultaneously being told that gender differences do not exist and that genders are so profoundly different that irreversible surgery is the only option,” the world’s richest man remarked in response to a review of the groundbreaking film. “Perhaps someone wiser than me can explain this dichotomy.”

“<a href="http://whatisawoman.com/">What is a Woman?</a>” features Daily Wire podcast host Matt Walsh’s quest to understand Left-wing gender theory by asking one simple question of leading medical professionals, activists, and lawmakers. Despite his good faith efforts to sit down with promulgators of the ideology, Walsh is repeatedly met with deflections and character accusations.

Indeed, Walsh informed Musk that his efforts to challenge gender theorists on their assumptions were ultimately fruitless. “I talked to the ‘wise’ in the film and it turns out they can’t explain anything at all,” Walsh said.

In the documentary, Walsh also interviews clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson, theologian Carl Trueman, and multiple women forced to compete against biological men in sports — including a female teammate of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas. At one point, Walsh travels halfway across the globe to seek answers from the Maasai people of Kenya — who, despite their lack of exposure to collegiate gender studies coursework, seem to have a far better grip on biology than many Americans brandishing their PhDs.

In alignment with those interviewed by Walsh, progressives have not responded well to “<a href="http://whatisawoman.com/">What is a Woman</a>?” in the wake of its release.
In a Friday hit piece, Rolling Stone claimed that the film is “transphobic” and criticized social media companies for letting The Daily Wire run advertisements to promote it. Yet after the article’s publication, Walsh <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/we-have-the-receipts-rolling-stone-hit-piece-calls-what-is-a-woman-transphobic-but-its-author-watched-0-of-the-movie">took the wind out of Rolling Stone’s sails</a> by showing that The Daily Wire invited the article’s author, Moises Mendez II, to watch the documentary earlier this week. Mendez watched 0% of the film before reaching his conclusion — and locked his Twitter account after Walsh called him out.
“I’d like Rolling Stone to explain how they arrived at these damning conclusions despite not watching the movie,” Walsh asked. “Do they make a habit of reviewing movies without watching them? How many other reviews were written this way? Or is mine the first? If so, why?”
Last week, The Daily Wire invited numerous critics to see the film — but many responded with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/im-not-reviewing-a-film-by-a-bigot-film-critics-wont-even-watch-matt-walshs-what-is-a-woman">profanity and accusations</a> of “transphobic” bigotry.
“Unsubscribe. Lose my email. Forget my name,” one whined.
“Hard f***ing pass. I won’t give that transphobic bigot a platform on my site,” screeched another. “Never email me again!”
“Absolutely f***ing not. He’s a bigot and you should be ashamed to be associated with him,” harped a third. “Have a great weekend!”
“Yeah, I’m not reviewing a film by a bigot,” another lashed out.
On the evening of the film’s premiere, The Daily Wire was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-a-cyberattack-tried-to-stop-you-from-watching-matt-walshs-what-is-a-woman">hit by a cyberattack</a> in which unknown hackers flooded the website with one million requests per minute — preventing actual users from seeing the film.
