First Lady Melania Trump, a legal immigrant to the United States, was targeted by talk show host Ellen Degeneres’ executive producer on Monday.
While promoting the 7,000-plus migrant-packed caravan headed toward our Southern border, Andy Lassner of “The Ellen Show” wrote via Twitter, “I’m way more afraid of another Melania getting in to this country than I am of any caravan of human beings seeking asylum.”
Lassner has since deleted the tweet, complaining that “trolls and bots” have allegedly told him to kill himself over the “sarcastic Melania tweet.”
“Deleted my sarcastic Melania tweet because there’s something about trolls and bots telling you to go kill yourself for hours on end that doesn’t feel as funny as you might think it would,” he wrote, adding, “Oh yeah, and please vote November 6th.”
But Team Melania is not staying silent on the nasty commentary from Lassner. Stephanie Grisham, a spokeswoman for the First Lady, hit back on Twitter.
The First Lady “is hosting children at the White House today to talk to them about kindness,” wrote Grisham, “should I save you a seat?”
Slovenian native Melania is serving as the first foreign-born First Lady since Louisa Adams in 1825.
“Ms. Trump, born in 1970, grew up in this hilly town of 4,500 best known around Slovenia,” reports The New York Times. Melania grew up under Communist dictator Josip Broz Tito before moving to America to pursue her modeling career.
After questions were raised about her immigration status during the 2016 presidential campaign, immigration attorney Michael Wildes clarified: “Mrs. Trump did not receive her green card through marriage. Rather, in 2000, she self-sponsored herself for a green card as a model of ‘extraordinary ability,’ and on March 19, 2001, she was admitted to the United States as a lawful permanent resident.”
In September of 2016, Mrs. Trump posted a letter from Wildes verifying that she always followed U.S. immigration law:
As for Lassner, it appears he has some sort of a fixation with Mrs. Trump, continuously tweeting snarky comments about the First Lady.
