In mid-April, Democratic presidential candidate Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who made a concerted effort to appear hip and relevant by livestreaming herself on Instagram downing beer on New Year’s Eve, decided to attempt another foray into the generation gap in order to appear hip, ruminating on her preference for a central character in the hit “Game of Thrones” series, Daenerys “Stormborn” Targaryen. Warren, apparently in self-referential rhetoric, lauded the character, writing, “Dany didn’t grow up in the lavish palace walls of the Red Keep … A queen who declares that she doesn’t serve the interests of the rich and powerful? A ruler who doesn’t want to control the political system but to break the system as it is known?”
(Warning, if you haven’t watched the penultimate episode of the series yet but intend to: There are spoilers ahead.)
