“Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider shared heartbreaking news on Wednesday via Facebook, announcing that his wife Alicia Allain had died at the age of 53 after previously battling breast cancer.

In several touching posts by the 62-year-old actor, he shared photos on his social media account of his wife. In one snap we see her giving a thumbs up. In a second, we see two hands with wedding bands holding each other.

“My beautiful Smile is pain free, living in her new body alongside Jesus,” Schneider wrote in his post. “Please respect our privacy during this time of grief. Please do not ask any questions.”

“If you have any pictures of us and our obvious love and adoration for each other, please post them below,” he added.
“Lastly … hug those you love tight and let them know how you feel. We always did.”

In a follow-up post, the TV star wrote about the “unimaginable sorrow” he’s experienced after her death.

“This is a time of unimaginable sorrow for me,” Schneider shared. “Grief is much too small a word. I’ve heard it said that ‘with great love comes great sorrow.’ I had no idea what that meant until now.”

“Alicia was the fuel that ran my biggest dreams,” he added. “The inspiration behind every creative thought. The very fabric of my soul. The glue that held me together. I miss her more than any words could possibly describe. Pain is too small a word. Grief is too small a word. Love itself is too small a word.”

The actor then called on fans to continue praying for him and his family to have strength to endure this difficult time as he asked for them to “be patient” with him during this process.

“Should you see me out there somewhere on the stage or in line at a coffee shop please don’t ask me how I am,” Schneider explained. “The answer is ‘broken’ and it’s currently too difficult for me to fathom and certainly too painful to verbalize. She loved you all and spoke of how dedicated and loyal you have been all these years and I love you right along with her.”

He closed out his post by thanking God for “sharing the gift of Alicia” with him and said he’ll “never be the same” again.

Alicia and John started dating in 2015 and tied the knot in 2019. That same year she was diagnosed with breast cancer. During an appearance on “Fox and Friends” in 2020, the couple talked about how she had been told she only had a few years to live.
