Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson will return to the airwaves this fall in a new Internet-only show for CRTV, the conservative online television network that boasts the likes of Michelle Malkin and Steven Crowder.
The Robertson family reality show called it quits last year after more than ten seasons, where Americans followed Phil and his brood’s exploits, navigating the duck call business, handling family drama, and often cooking delicious food for huge numbers of people (no joke, Miss Kay’s food is really the best).
But like some of his family members — including granddaughter Sadie Robertson — Phil never intended his career in political and social commentary to end with his reality television sitcom. So he’ll begin production on In The Woods With Phil, a show that puts his beliefs front and center — and will bypass the rules of political correctness.
In a promotional clip provided to the Hollywood Reporter, Phil addresses the temporary suspension he received from A&E after suggesting to GQ that the Bible might frown on sexual impropriety (though that’s kind of a watered-down version of his actual quote, which likened homosexual sex to bestiality).
“What does a man do when they try to run him out of town for quoting a Bible verse?” Robertson asks in the clip. “I tell you what he does; he goes deep in the woods.”
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Robertson definitely wants to be controversial, and told reporters that he’s going to talk about what he calls hard truths; you tune in, you’ll hear it straight.
“For far too long we have been told to shut up. No more. Here’s the deal, America. These are my woods. Out here, I call the shots. Out here, we reject political correctness, or as I like to say, ‘pontificated crap,'” he said.
“Most media are ashamed of America, its values, and just has an aversion to plain old common sense,” Robertson continued. “What did I hear today? That a girl can now be a Boy Scout? The name is ‘Boy Scout.’ How hard is that to understand? If liberals and Hollywood elites are going to pressure a network and advertisers to abandon me for saying something that is common sense as ‘you need to be a boy to be a Boy Scout,’ then I am going to go where they can’t silence me. I have never been one to shut up.”
