<p>The Department of Agriculture is continuing to promote whole milk — this time using a milk-mustachioed President Donald Trump to relay the message.</p>
<p>On the heels of the newly revised food guidelines from the USDA and Health and Human Services (HHS), which now promote healthy fats and protein, the Agriculture Department has brought back the milk mustache.</p>
<p>&#8220;Drink up, America,&#8221; the USDA message reads, captioning a photo of Trump with a milk mustache.</p>
<p>The photo says, &#8220;The milk mustache is back,&#8221; and &#8220;Drink whole milk.&#8221;</p>

<p>The new Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), which were released on Wednesday, flip the food pyramid upside down, advising Americans to eat whole foods, prioritizing healthy fats and protein, and limiting or avoiding ultra-processed foods.</p>
<p>Whole milk is featured near the top of the new food pyramid, which is now the base of the pyramid.</p>
<p>Both Rollins and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have stressed that the war on “healthy fats” and protein is over. Americans, they say, should prioritize high-quality, nutrient-dense protein foods in every meal, including a variety of animal sources, such as eggs, poultry, seafood, and red meat. Plant-sourced protein, such as beans, peas, lentils, legumes, nuts, seeds, and soy, is also recommended.</p>

<p>The National Milk Producers Federation, which represents about 18,000 dairy farmers, <a href="https://www.nmpf.org/nmpf-statement-on-the-2025-2030-dietary-guidelines-for-americans/">praised</a> the Trump administration&#8217;s new guidance for &#8220;recognizing dairy’s critical role in a healthy diet.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;We are proud to benefit American health in fundamental ways, and we welcome the potential these guidelines hold for expanding upon dairy’s critical role in the diet,&#8221; the NMPF said in a statement released Wednesday.</p>
<p>“As also shown in the scientific report that preceded today’s guidelines, reducing or eliminating dairy from the diet leads to undernourishment in key nutrients for millions of Americans,&#8221; the statement added. &#8220;These guidelines encourage consumption of dairy nutrients critical to human health. Meanwhile, not all fats are created equal, and because the guidelines acknowledge this, dairy’s benefits are better reflected in this iteration of the guidelines.&#8221;</p>
