Dolly Parton celebrated a career milestone at age 77 after her first rock album, titled “Rockstar,” reached No. 1 on six different Billboard charts and saw the highest debut sales out of her entire discography.
“Wow, this is a big thrill,” the Country Music Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member said after her latest album sold more than 143,000 copies in its first week, the Tennessean reported.
“I owe a thank you to the fans who have always been there for me,” Parton said. “Their support made this achievement possible. I’d also like to thank my producer Kent Wells, all the wonderful artists, musicians, and engineers who brought their talents to this project.”
“Words can’t describe how proud I am that Dolly trusted us to deliver her ‘Rockstar vision,'” Danny Nozell, Parton’s longtime manager and CEO of CTK Enterprises and NOZ Entertainment Soundstages, said.

The sales for her first rock album nearly the tripled one-week sales of her previous best-selling 1993 album “Slow Dancing With the Moon,” Fox News noted.
“Rockstar” also debuted debuted No. 3 on the Billboard 200, making it Parton’s highest charting album ever, Billboard magazine noted.

“Rockstar” contains 30 songs with both original hits and covers alongside guest stars like Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, and Chris Stapleton.
The “Jolene” hitmaker previously told the Tennessean that she “wanted to make a record of major rock classics that reflected those songs, true to the rhythm, in my voice.”
“I did my dead-level best to make an album I and the people whose songs I covered could be proud of — and I think (what resulted) is some of my best work,” she added. “I may get praised or criticized for this album, but nobody can say I didn’t give it all I had.”
The idea to make a rock album was sparked after the “9 to 5” star was nominated and later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which she initially tried to prevent, as previously reported.
“And I appreciate the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame people for staying there with me,” the country superstar shared. “I never meant to cause trouble or stir up any controversy.”
“It was just always my belief — and I think millions of other people out there too — always thought the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was just set up for the greatest people in the rock ‘n’ roll business, and I just didn’t feel like I really measured up to that and I don’t want to take anything away from the people that have worked so hard.”
“Rockstar” was released on November 17.
