On Friday, Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez, who has described socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the future of the Democratic Party, was photographed at Reagan National Airport carrying what appeared to be a nearly $2,000 travel bag.
As The Daily Caller reported, “The bag appears to be a Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandoulière 55 Damier Cobalt Canvas bag, which retails at $1,840 on the Louis Vuitton website.”
When contacted by The Daily Caller, DNC spokesman Michael Tyler claimed Perez was carrying a staffer’s bag, saying, “Nice try y’all, but he’s holding a staffer’s bag here at the airport. Tom does not own a Louis Vuitton bag.”
Interviewed by radio show host Bill Press on July 3, Perez stated, “I have three kids, two of whom are daughters. One just graduated college, one who is in college, and they were both texting me about their excitement over Alexandria because she really — she represents the future of our party.”
Perez also called Ben Jealous, an avowed socialist running for governor of Maryland, “spectacular.”
