The NFL’s Detroit Lions announced on Friday that the franchise will honor victims during Sunday’s game from Tuesday’s shooting at Michigan’s Oxford High School that killed four students and injured seven other people.

The Lions will wear a special decal on player helmets in addition to team members wearing special hats and shirts to honor the lives lost during the tragedy, according to The Athletic.

A moment of silence is also slated prior to the team’s home game against the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. local time.

The move follows a similar announcement by the University of Michigan on Friday. The Wolverines will wear a logo on its jerseys during its Big Ten Championship matchup against Iowa at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday.

The patch will honor Madisyn Baldwin, Tate Myre, Hana St. Juliana, and Justin Shilling who were killed during Tuesday’s attack.

The TM42 patch will include four hearts to honor each of the four victims, with the TM42 recognizing Tate Myre and his football jersey number.

“We are proud to represent the state of Michigan and all of its communities. #OxfordStrong is #MichiganStrong,” Michigan Football’s Twitter account posted on Thursday.

Another post featuring the new logo simply noted, “#OxfordStrong // #MichiganStrong.”

The Daily Wire previously reported that a petition to rename Michigan’s Oxford High School football stadium after a student who died attempting to disarm the shooter has grown to more than 129,000 signatures. The petition had grown to more than 217,000 signatures by Friday afternoon.

Students have reported that Myre, a 16-year-old running back for the Oxford Wildcats, was shot while trying to disarm the shooter and later died from the injury.

“Tate is not just a hero to his fellow students at Oxford high school but a legend, his act of bravery should be remembered forever and passed down through generations, he put his life in danger to try and help the thousands of other students at Oxford High School,” the petition read.

The petition was launched by Drake Biggie, a sophomore and friend of Myre.

A few days before his death, Myre posted an image from a recruiting visit to the University of Toledo.

The junior running back finished his junior season as an all-region selection as a tight end and linebacker.

Myre’s Twitter profile noted a remarkable 3.9-grade point average, along with strong weightlifting and running statistics highlighting his strong athletic potential.

The 15-year-old male shooting suspect in the shooting was charged with first-degree murder and terrorism charges, an Oakland County prosecutor announced on Wednesday. The alleged shooter will also face seven counts of assault with intent to kill and 12 counts of possession of a firearm.
