According to the campaign manager for President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, in the 24 hours following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement she would launch an impeachment inquiry targeting the president, the Trump campaign and the GOP raised $5 million in small-dollar donations. Additionally, two fundraisers for the campaign scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday nights were expected to raise another $8 million, meaning the Trump campaign would have raised $13 million in less than three days, as The Daily Mail reported.

Fox Business reported, “The National Republican Congressional Committee, meanwhile, said its online fundraising was up 608% yesterday.” The NRCC tweeted, “Thank you, @SpeakerPelosi and de facto Speaker @AOC!”
Trump is doing great business fundraising; roughly one week ago CNN reported that despite the general hostility toward Trump in California, he raked in $15 million in a two-day visit. CNN reported:
President Donald Trump is warring with California’s Democratic officials over auto-emission standards and the state’s homeless crisis, but here at the center of the resistance to his administration he’s scooped up $15 million for his re-election campaign during a two-day swing through the Golden state. The big haul — divided between Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee — underscores the enormous financial advantage the President has built over the Democratic field.
The Wall Street Journal reported in July that Trump’s fundraising was even greater that former President Obama’s in the same period of his presidency. The Journal noted:
President Trump’s re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee said Tuesday that they raised $105 million in the second quarter of 2019. The haul eclipses President Obama’s re-election fundraising during the same period eight years ago. The entities had $100 million cash on hand at the end of the quarter … The campaign said President Trump and his committees had raised $54 million and the RNC $51 million. The campaign had $56 million in cash and the RNC $44 million … During the same period in 2011, President Obama’s campaign raised $47 million and the Democratic National Committee $38 million.
The New York Times noted,
“While Mr. Trump may be trailing the Democratic front-runners in the polls, his second-quarter numbers were a reminder that as an incumbent, he has advantages that were unavailable to him as an untraditional, first-time candidate in 2016. Mr. Trump rose to the presidency with fewer staff members and less money than his opponent, Hillary Clinton. This time, he will have the Republican Party’s fund-raising mechanism, as well as the powers of the presidency, bolstering his raw personal appeal to his base …”
Matt Gorman, who had advised the Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney presidential campaign, told the Times, “Democratic fund-raising is getting a lot of attention, but the Trump campaign is slowly amassing a huge war chest, and unlike theirs, it won’t be spent trying to win a primary. Events like debates or announcements that are cash cows for Democrats are just as helpful to Republican fund-raising, too.”
