Pro-abortion Democratic lawmakers were quick to link a tragic school shooting to abortion, weaponizing pro-life arguments to suggest that Republicans do not care about protecting children.

Following news that at a gunman killed at least 21 people, including 19 children, in a Texas elementary school, elected officials began linking the tragedy to the potential overturn of Roe v. Wade.

“There is no such thing as being ‘pro-life’ while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place,” tweeted Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez on Wednesday. “It is an idolatry of violence. And it must end.”

Ocasio-Cortez and many other Democratic lawmakers who are pro-abortion strongly suggested that to be truly pro-life, Republicans must support gun control measures.

“Let’s be clear: you are not ‘pro-life’ if you choose to do *absolutely nothing* to save children from gun violence, save Black and Brown moms from the maternal mortality crisis and save Americans from domestic terrorism or ANY OTHER FORM of preventable crises,” tweeted Democratic Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth.

Florida Democratic senatorial candidate Allen Ellison stated that he doesn’t “want to hear your Pro-Life argument when you care more about your guns than the lives of our children.”

California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom went so far as to claim that “the Republican Party is obsessed with forcing women to give birth but doesn’t care if our children are gunned down in school.”

The governor’s tweet linked to news that Republican Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt had signed a bill on Wednesday banning almost all abortions in the state.

The women of ABC’s “The View” managed to link the school shootings to both Republican politicians and conservative justices on the U.S. Supreme Court.

“Stop using guns to abort young lives,” The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg said as part of a show in which she mocked Texas abortion laws and called for citizens to be “deputized” to report neighbors whose arsenals might be too big.

“Listen. I want to thank Governor Abbott because he signed 22 bills this year making it easier for mass shooters to buy, carry, and own guns in his state,” Goldberg said, before suggesting that Texas’s abortion law be applied to guns.

“So you sold an AR-15 at the gun show? See you in court. Does your neighbor have too big an arsenal? Call the cops,” Goldberg said. “Actually, let’s invoke some Supreme Court logic too. Alito says abortion’s not in the Constitution. Neither are AR-15s. So I guess the Constitution doesn’t cover them either. Life is so sacred, then stop using guns to abort young lives. Stop using guns –”

“And stop voting for Republicans,” interrupted her co-host Joy Behar.
