An email from a prominent Hillary Clinton donor written in 2015 to former Secretary of State Colin Powell claims that Democratic Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse said Clinton could “barely climb the podium steps.”
Jeffrey Leeds’ email, revealed after Powell’s email account had been hacked, stated, “Sheldon Whitehouse, who is a huge Clinton supporter, said they were both giving speeches at the same event a few months back and she could barely climb the podium steps.”
Powell responded:
On HD tv she doesn’t look good. She is working herself to death. After speaking at the UN and doing the crummy press conference she flew to SF to go to a paid gig for EBay and then went to Marc’s house to get ready for a money dinner for the Clinton Foundation. I was in Marc’s second house and ducked her so we didn’t turn loose another email story by being seen together. She then flew back east the next morning. She will turn 70 her first year in office.
Clinton’s health has been the subject of much speculation, especially since her fainting episode last Sunday. She has fainted before, notably in 2005, during a luncheon speech in upstate New York at the Saturn Club in Buffalo.
Dr. Stephanie Pincus, a leading doctor in New York, was present at the time and examined her, stating, “She has had a GI virus — an acute gastrointestinal illness — and she has been sick for at least a day and she needed some fluids; she needed to sit down and relax. She had clearly consulted with physicians beforehand. She came in, she said she wasn’t feeling well. She felt hot. She had stepped out to remove some of her heavier clothing, and it was just too much for her to continue.”
In 2012, Clinton fainted during a speech and suffered a concussion and a subsequent blood clot.
